Amber Rudd ¡®urges removal¡¯ of students from UK net migration target

Amber Rudd, 바카라사이트 home secretary, is leading a Cabinet push for international students to be removed from 바카라사이트 government¡¯s target to reduce net migration, according to reports.

Theresa May, in her own time as home secretary and now as prime minister, has long been opposed to taking foreign students out of immigration targets, despite pressure to change 바카라사이트 policy from her own ministers.

But ,?Ms Rudd is now leading a new Cabinet push to take students out of 바카라사이트 count, in order to avoid 바카라사이트 government suffering a defeat next year when 바카라사이트 House of Commons considers a bill to set up a post-Brexit immigration regime.

She also hopes that 바카라사이트 prime minister will be persuaded to shift her position because of 바카라사이트 success of reform designed to stop 바카라사이트 abuse of student visas and enacted when Ms May was home secretary, 바카라사이트 newspaper added.

The home secretary has support from colleagues including chancellor Philip Hammond, foreign secretary Boris Johnson and business secretary Greg Clark, 바카라사이트 Financial Times said.

In April, 바카라사이트 government rejected a Lords amendment to 바카라사이트 Higher Education and Research Bill calling for students to be removed from 바카라사이트 target to reduce net migration.

Sarah Stevens, head of policy at 바카라사이트 Russell Group, said that 바카라사이트 government should ¡°look at closely¡± 바카라사이트 option of removing students from 바카라사이트 net migration target, adding that universities ¡°need an immigration system that allows universities to continue to recruit 바카라사이트 best students from around 바카라사이트 world¡±.
