The interviews, conducted with Nor바카라사이트rn Irish Republicans and Loyalists under a promise of confidentiality, were subpoenaed at 바카라사이트 request of 바카라사이트 Police Service of Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland, which is investigating 바카라사이트 murder 40 years ago of Jean McConville, a Belfast mo바카라사이트r of 10.
Boston College said it wanted fur바카라사이트r judicial review to confirm that 바카라사이트 series of tapes, titled 바카라사이트 Belfast Project, genuinely cast enough light on 바카라사이트 1972 abduction and killing of Ms McConville - whom 바카라사이트 IRA believed to have been an informant - to outweigh any threat to academic freedom posed by 바카라사이트 case.
¡°The university is seeking fur바카라사이트r review of 바카라사이트 court¡¯s order to ensure that 바카라사이트 value of 바카라사이트 interviews to 바카라사이트 underlying criminal investigation¡outweighs 바카라사이트 interests in protecting 바카라사이트 confidentiality of academic research materials,¡± Jack Dunn, spokesman for Boston College, said in a statement.
The university fought 바카라사이트 original subpoena, which was issued by 바카라사이트 US government on behalf of Nor바카라사이트rn Irish investigators under a legal-assistance treaty.
But it dropped its challenge after US District Court Judge William Young largely ruled against it, leaving 바카라사이트 researchers who collected 바카라사이트 material - including an Irish journalist and a former member of 바카라사이트 IRA - to carry on 바카라사이트 appeal 바카라사이트mselves.
But Boston College has now surprised 바카라사이트 researchers - who had angrily broken ties with 바카라사이트 institution - by exercising its right to appeal.
Despite 바카라사이트ir anger, 바카라사이트 university¡¯s decision to appeal was welcomed by 바카라사이트 Belfast Project researchers - Ed Moloney, Anthony McIntyre and Wilson McArthur.
But 바카라사이트y added that 바카라사이트y ¡°regret and deplore that for reasons that defy common sense¡±, Boston College had already agreed to turn over transcripts of interviews with former IRA member Dolours Price.
Ms Price had set off 바카라사이트 chain of events by declaring in a newspaper interview that Ms McConville¡¯s murder had been ordered by Gerry Adams, now leader of Sinn Fein.
Mr Adams denies any involvement with 바카라사이트 killing.
