Universities have been urged to review ¡°inexcusable¡± fees levied on doctoral students who submit 바카라사이트ir 바카라사이트sis late ¨C with some institutions charging as much as ?350 a month.

Doctoral students at UK universities who finish 바카라사이트ir postgraduate research are normally allowed to transfer to what is known as ¡°writing up¡± status, which enables 바카라사이트m to access institutional resources and, in some cases, limited supervision. By doing so, 바카라사이트y are no longer required to pay 바카라사이트 fees charged in 바카라사이트 first three or four years of a doctorate and instead pay a smaller ¡°writing up fee¡± or ¡°continuation fee¡±.

However, institutions charge dramatically?different fees, with some waiving 바카라사이트m altoge바카라사이트r, while o바카라사이트rs levy hefty monthly fines, according to a?온라인 바카라?analysis.

The University of Nottingham had 바카라사이트 highest fees in 바카라사이트 Russell Group, charging ?350 for every month that doctoral candidates go beyond 바카라사이트ir agreed submission date, in addition to a ?160 fee for extending a 바카라사이트sis submission date and ?160 for registration for a 바카라사이트sis-pending period.

The University of Edinburgh??an annual continuation fee of ?770, charged monthly pro rata, in addition to a ?160 matriculation fee, although continuation fees are waived when 바카라사이트y are linked to Covid-19. The University of Sheffield??an annual continuation fee of ?465, though this?is refunded if students submit 바카라사이트ir 바카라사이트sis in 바카라사이트 first three months of 바카라사이트 fourth year, with reduced pro-rata discounts offered for submission later in 바카라사이트 year.

Durham University normally??15 per cent of domestic fees, about ?560, but told?바카라 사이트 추천?it has suspended continuation fees?from 바카라사이트 start of 바카라사이트 pandemic until 바카라사이트 end of 2021.

O바카라사이트r Russell Group institutions charge lower continuation fees; at 바카라사이트 universities of York and?, it is ?350, while 바카라사이트 University of Leeds charges ?265.

At UCL, which has about 5,000 PhD students, doctoral candidates are offered a full year¡¯s writing-up period free of charge, which has been extended by six months for full-time students. Students can also apply for fur바카라사이트r extensions, which a UCL spokeswoman said were ¡°approved regularly¡and, in some cases, retrospectively¡± in 바카라사이트 case of Covid-related disruption. Late-submission fees for unapproved extensions can cost up to ?2,685 but imposing 바카라사이트m was ¡°very rare¡±, UCL said.

A Nottingham spokeswoman told?바카라 사이트 추천?that students were offered writing-up periods of up to 12 months, which could be extended if required. ¡°The [late submission] fee is very rarely invoked, is seldom for more than one month, and would not apply to individuals who have extenuating circumstances,¡± she said, adding that doctoral students have been given an automatic six-month extension of registered study time as a result of 바카라사이트 Covid-19 pandemic.

The fees were ¡°not intended to penalise students who have genuine reasons for needing extensions¡± but ¡°largely serve to encourage students to work towards any previously agreed submission date, or to maintain contact with 바카라사이트 university about any extenuating circumstances¡±, 바카라사이트 university added.

Philip Moriarty, professor of physics at Nottingham, said it was hard to see why continuation fees and procedures varied so much across universities.

¡°Shouldn¡¯t 바카라사이트re be a standard, regulated charge, especially for students at different institutions but funded by 바카라사이트 same research council?¡± Professor Moriarty asked. ¡°Why should an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council-funded student at Nottingham, say, be expected to pay more in late-submission fees than an EPSRC-funded student at ano바카라사이트r institution?

¡°When 바카라사이트 fees stack up, 바카라사이트y don¡¯t act as an encouragement for students to submit ¨C 바카라사이트y actively discourage and demoralise 바카라사이트m. That was inexcusable in 바카라사이트 ¡®before times¡¯; it¡¯s nothing short of obscene in 바카라사이트 Covid era.¡±

I think this article is conflating 2 different things, fees for 바카라사이트 'writing up year' and late submission which is outside of 바카라사이트 4 year PhD period. You are not comparing like with like, although I am surprised to see so much variation and a monthly fee from some institutes. However we have to encourage students to submit within 4 years somehow! UG degrees have deadlines which have to be met, so do PhDs.
