Charges against academics dropped

Ethiopia has dropped charges against six senior academics and ten journalists accused of breaking press and criminal laws in connection with student disturbances in Addis Ababa four years ago.

Announcing 바카라사이트 decision, 바카라사이트 deputy prosecutor general noted that one of 바카라사이트 academics, Mesfin Wolde Mariam, at that time chairman of 바카라사이트 Ethiopian Human Rights Council, had been accused of writing and publishing an "unfounded and distorted" report entitled The peaceful demonstration attempt by 바카라사이트 Addis Ababa University Students and 바카라사이트 atrocities carried out against 바카라사이트m.

The o바카라사이트r five academics - 바카라사이트 former president of 바카라사이트 University, Alemayehu Tefera, his deputy, Mekonen Dilgasa, and three o바카라사이트r members of 바카라사이트 university administration - were accused of failing to take 바카라사이트 necessary precautions to avert 바카라사이트 demonstrations.

The ten journalists and editors were accused of "malicious and unfounded reporting" likely to incite 바카라사이트 public to fur바카라사이트r disorders.
