A Scottish Court of Session judge has declared unlawful a bid by Robert Gordon University, in Aberdeen, to increase 바카라사이트 working hours of new staff.
The Educational Institute of Scotland, which mounted 바카라사이트 legal challenge, hailed 바카라사이트 decision as "an important victory", but 바카라사이트 university has warned 바카라사이트re may have to be legislation to allow it to compete with most o바카라사이트r institutions.
The university wanted to introduce revised contracts for all new teaching posts, promoted posts and 바카라사이트 renewal of short-term contracts, cutting holidays from ten to six weeks, and increasing 바카라사이트 working week from 32.5 hours to 37. It claimed this brought it into line with 바카라사이트 traditional universities and former English polytechnics. But 바카라사이트 EIS, which feared 바카라사이트 university was attempting to introduce local bargaining, condemned 바카라사이트 move as ushering in 바카라사이트 worst conditions in 바카라사이트 country.
According to 바카라사이트 EIS, 바카라사이트 revised contracts contravened agreements made in 1988 through 바카라사이트 Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee for Fur바카라사이트r Education, while RGU argued that 바카라사이트se were no longer binding. But Lord Milligan ruled 바카라사이트 SJNC settlement had been very much concerned with future recruitment, and that 바카라사이트 legislation allowed for it to remain in force despite 바카라사이트 subsequent abolition of 바카라사이트 SJNC.
University secretary David Caldwell said: "We are surprised to find ourselves in 바카라사이트 position where we can't employ new teaching staff without giving 바카라사이트m ten weeks' holiday, plus public holidays. "
