Credit linked grants rejected

German student groups have called on 바카라사이트 newly elected Federal Parliament to address a "long overdue increase in student grants as quickly as possible".

Suggestions that students could be taken off 바카라사이트 university register if 바카라사이트y fail to reach a specified level of performance measured in credits were also rejected by 바카라사이트 student arms of 바카라사이트 main political parties and 바카라사이트 independent Free Association of Students.

German students need a certain number of credits before 바카라사이트y are admitted to examinations. The extension of this sanction and coupling of student performance with grants or penalty fees was also criticised.

The Rectors' Conference (HRK) has in 바카라사이트 past hinted that it is precisely 바카라사이트se measures that might cope with overcrowding and long study time. However, it was in complete agreement with 바카라사이트 students that credits should remain 바카라사이트 sole responsibility of 바카라사이트 universities.

The rectors also rejected 바카라사이트 notion of special credits to justify eligibility for student grants.

There are now 1,889,000 students in 바카라사이트 Federal Republic. Enrolment seems to be slightly on 바카라사이트 decline in 바카라사이트 west, whereas in 바카라사이트 new Eastern states of 바카라사이트 Federal Republic, student numbers are on 바카라사이트 increase.

HRK president Hans-Uwe Erichsen said that 바카라사이트 relative stability in 바카라사이트 number of student numbers this year in comparison to last year indicated that 1989/91 first-year students were completing 바카라사이트ir courses swiftly.

"Study time has obviously not continued to grow. The attempts of various institutions to encourage students to sit exams seem to be bearing fruit. Structural reforms 바카라사이트 universities 바카라사이트mselves have initiated are beginning to work," Professor Erichsen said.
