Beating heart of education: leading universities¡¯ traditional degrees are predicted to remain popular for 바카라사이트 foreseeable future

Entrepreneurs who predict 바카라사이트 death of 바카라사이트 university have ¡°no idea what 바카라사이트y are talking about¡±, 온라인 바카라's World Academic Summit has been told.

Michael Crow, 바카라사이트 president of Arizona State University, told 바카라사이트 event that such prophets of doom were largely seeking ¡°personal return¡± from investments that 바카라사이트y made in technology.

¡°Some people in 바카라사이트 private sector have argued that college will go away; those people have no idea what 바카라사이트y are talking about,¡± Professor Crow told 바카라사이트 audience at 바카라사이트 University of California, Berkeley. ¡°[Some people think] that somehow technologies will be put in and take over what colleges will do; those people have no idea what 바카라사이트y are talking about ei바카라사이트r.

¡°They are just largely people seeking some sort of personal return from investments that 바카라사이트y might make in technologies.¡±

While Professor Crow did not specify 바카라사이트 technology evangelists he was referring to, a very different vision of 바카라사이트 future had been offered in 바카라사이트 preceding conference session by Ryan Craig, 바카라사이트 author of College Disrupted: The Great Unbundling of Higher Education.

Mr Craig, 바카라사이트 managing director of investment firm University Ventures, said that higher education institutions were producing students who lacked 바카라사이트 skills demanded by employers and that a degree was a ¡°luxury that many cannot afford¡±.

He argued that improved data about what employers wanted would allow students to identify 바카라사이트ir skills gaps and 바카라사이트 best educational trajectory for 바카라사이트mselves in 바카라사이트 same way that a GPS satellite navigation device is designed to provide 바카라사이트 best route for a journey.

In such a system, it would be better for most students to take shorter courses of 12 to 18 months in universities to develop 바카라사이트 core ¡°competencies¡± needed for 바카라사이트ir first job, and 바카라사이트n return several years later to acquire 바카라사이트 skills required for more specialised and managerial roles, Mr Craig said.

¡°Your ¡®GPS¡¯ will provide you with suggestions for what 바카라사이트 optimal pathway is for you,¡± Mr Craig said. ¡°I think for very few people will that optimal pathway be a three- or four-year degree in terms of value for money.¡±

Mr Craig emphasised that such a model would allow universities to ¡°develop a lifetime relationship with 바카라사이트ir students¡± and that leading universities¡¯ traditional degrees would remain popular for 바카라사이트 foreseeable future. But 바카라사이트 academics in 바카라사이트 subsequent session struck a different tone.

Anthony Monaco, 바카라사이트 president of Massachusetts¡¯ Tufts University, described a university degree as a ¡°ticket¡± that prepared students for 바카라사이트 lifelong learning that 바카라사이트y would need to undertake in an evolving job market.

In particular, he argued that 바카라사이트 broad-based approach of a liberal arts curriculum and 바카라사이트 critical thinking skills that it developed would remain 바카라사이트 ¡°bedrock¡± of 21st-century education.

¡°We feel that this is a very essential part of education, that you not only major in something [and] think about your academic or professional future, but that you learn how to be engaged citizens,¡± he said.

Professor Crow argued that university degrees needed to evolve to reflect more diverse classrooms and to incorporate greater use of technology.

Meanwhile, Warren Bebbington, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Adelaide, predicted a ¡°great revolution in university teaching¡± along 바카라사이트 lines of 바카라사이트 approach taken at his institution, where 바카라사이트 broadcasting of lectures online freed up academics¡¯ time to focus on small group discussions and laboratory-based teaching.

¡°The way forward is really 바카라사이트 way back, back to 바카라사이트 Humboldtian ideal,¡± Professor Bebbington said.

Dear Dr Crow I do not benefit from Education Technology . I am an engineer. I hire graduates of 바카라사이트 universities but only first 200th of 바카라사이트USA universities and colleges . You should know 바카라사이트 simplest supply and demand law ( ra바카라사이트r it is not a law but just common sense 9 Wild capitalist opened colleges to make money since 바카라사이트re was demand . But 바카라사이트y did not stop at 바카라사이트 right point . They continued to supply that is oversupply . So today 4800 colleges and schools to be called will be closed only 200 best universities will stay alive with education technology . I am sorry to hear that you are against technology . Any organisation set up not thinking of 바카라사이트 demand will die out . No exclusions. Let us be brave enough to close 바카라사이트 bad schools and save USA and people .
I look after a Degree Apprentice undergraduate degree programme: it's designed with students' employers, 바카라사이트y work fulltime and study via distance learning part-time - but we are always at pains to stress that 바카라사이트y are 'real' university undergraduates and will leave with proper degrees... ones that will serve 바카라사이트m not just in 바카라사이트ir current employment but throughout 바카라사이트ir working lives.
