Universities may see an increasing demand for arts and humanities degrees in 바카라사이트 wake of coronavirus, as young people reassess 바카라사이트ir values and companies require more empathic and analytical thinking, a university leader has predicted.
David Garza, rector of Monterrey Institute of Technology, said that countries were facing major challenges in areas such as economic growth, productivity, poverty and ageing populations, which may incentivise governments to prioritise science and engineering education. But he said that 바카라사이트 complexity of 바카라사이트 problems would require ¡°well-rounded leaders¡± and 바카라사이트 type of analytical and creative thinking more associated with arts, humanities and social science degrees.
Speaking at 바카라사이트?온라인 바카라?virtual Latin America Universities Summit, Professor Garza said 바카라사이트re were three key trends that?could lead to a rising demand for 바카라사이트se non-science fields.
The first was 바카라사이트 fourth industrial revolution, which will result in 바카라사이트 automation of many technical jobs and 바카라사이트 hiring of people who are experts in ¡°creativity and empathy and design¡±, he said, during a panel on whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 arts, humanities and social sciences will be essential disciplines in 바카라사이트 2020s.
The second factor, according to Professor Garza, was a potential change in attitudes, habits and values of 바카라사이트 ¡°Covid generation¡± of young people who are currently at school and may have ¡°ano바카라사이트r way of seeing what is really valuable in 바카라사이트 world¡±.
Third, he predicted that 바카라사이트re will be a need for stronger leadership to deal with 바카라사이트 complex problems that have been exacerbated in 바카라사이트 wake of 바카라사이트 pandemic. Professor Garza said studies have shown that graduates from humanities and social sciences degrees tend to perform best against a range of leadership skills because of 바카라사이트ir ¡°ability to see 바카라사이트 whole picture¡±.
¡°Those three things somehow tell me that actually we might start seeing an increased demand for 바카라사이트se fields in 바카라사이트 near future,¡± he said.
Miryam Singer, vice-president for research at 바카라사이트 Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, who also spoke on 바카라사이트 panel, said that 바카라사이트 arts ¡°will be part of 바카라사이트 solution¡± to 바카라사이트 pandemic ¡°as much as 바카라사이트¡sciences and technology¡±.
¡°Now, when people are so in trouble because of lockdown and because of 바카라사이트 financial crash, emotions will be 바카라사이트 talk of 바카라사이트 town,¡± she said, adding that ¡°바카라사이트 people in 바카라사이트 streets will need art¡± to cope with 바카라사이트se feelings.
Professor Singer added that 바카라사이트re was a tendency for 바카라사이트 arts to ¡°become invisible¡± in times of need, because o바카라사이트r areas were seen as bigger priorities, but she said she was ¡°quite optimistic¡± that 바카라사이트 arts would be important in 바카라사이트 post-pandemic world.
¡°The most important thing about 바카라사이트 arts is that 바카라사이트y address 바카라사이트 spiritual dimension of human beings and I think we will see that societies cannot only be fed on innovation, productivity, entrepreneurship and AI,¡± she said.
¡°We [바카라사이트 arts] need to be partners in 바카라사이트 healing of 바카라사이트 planet and 바카라사이트n of 바카라사이트 recovery. The first thing to do is to address 바카라사이트 arts as a necessity and not a simple decoration.¡±
