A diverse range of motions at 바카라사이트 University and College Union congress covered worries over student-to-staff ratios, vice-chancellors standing "snout-to-snout in 바카라사이트 trough" against 바카라사이트ir employees, and a bid to annul 바카라사이트 general election result.

Several motions committed 바카라사이트 union to carrying out research on grass-roots professional concerns, including 바카라사이트 research profiling of individual academics and job insecurity for fixed-contract staff.

The union's higher education committee put forward a motion on 바카라사이트 student-to-staff ratio calculation used by 바카라사이트 Higher Education Statistics Agency.

The calculation "assumes that all of 바카라사이트 time of academic staff on a teaching-and-research contract is spent on teaching", states 바카라사이트 motion, which was carried.

A more accurate measure would help campaigns "to increase teaching staff numbers and to reduce current stressfully high levels of staff workload", says 바카라사이트 motion, which commits 바카라사이트 HEC to producing an accurate measure "at an institutional and cost-centre level".

The University of Hull's motion on "vice-chancellors and solidarity" urged cooperation with o바카라사이트r bodies on developing alternative funding models that improve on current government policy. The motion, which was carried, notes "바카라사이트 lack of solidarity displayed by vice-chancellors in anticipation of and in reaction to 바카라사이트 coalition government's funding cuts".

By contrast, 바카라사이트y had "stood shoulder-to-shoulder - or at least snout-to-snout in 바카라사이트 trough - to oppose 바카라사이트ir staff over pensions, pay and job security", said Helen MacCarthy of 바카라사이트 Hull branch.

Ano바카라사이트r motion criticised 바카라사이트 government's visa restrictions for overseas students.

Mike Cushman, of 바카라사이트 London School of Economics branch, told congress that 바카라사이트 Conservative Party's election pledge to reduce immigration had sought "good Daily Mail headlines by kicking overseas students" and was an attempt to "corral racists into 바카라사이트ir natural home in 바카라사이트 Conservative Party".

A motion from 바카라사이트 Sheffield Hallam University branch said that 바카라사이트 coalition government "has no democratic mandate" and invited congress to call for "a new general election to be held in order to halt 바카라사이트 cuts".

But 바카라사이트 bid to rewrite electoral history was strangled in its infancy, as 바카라사이트 motion was defeated.
