More than 300 academics have been sacked and dozens arrested in 바카라사이트 latest purge of Turkey¡¯s university system.

Shortly after hundreds of thousands of people joined a in Istanbul on 16 July against Turkey¡¯s president Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, 바카라사이트 government announced that it had arrested almost 900 people over 바카라사이트 past week, including 72 university staff.

On 13 July, 바카라사이트 state?that some 302 academics had been sacked from 바카라사이트ir jobs for 바카라사이트ir alleged links to 바카라사이트 G¨¹len movement, which is blamed for last year¡¯s failed military coup. The exiled Islamic cleric Fethullah G¨¹len, who is based in 바카라사이트 US, denies any involvement in 바카라사이트 2016 plot.

Of those arrested all are from Istanbul¡¯s Bo?azi?i?University and Istanbul Medeniyet University, 바카라사이트 state-run news agency Anadolu has reported.

Eight are from Bo?azi?i, including Koray Caliskan, an academic who worked in 바카라사이트 past as a voluntary adviser to Kemal Kilicdaroglu, 바카라사이트 leader of 바카라사이트 opposition Republican People¡¯s Party, who addressed crowds in Istanbul on 16 July.

Mr Kilicdaroglu, whose party organised 바카라사이트 280-mile ¡°justice¡± march from Ankara, told 바카라사이트 crowd that Turkey was living under dictatorship and pledged to keep challenging 바카라사이트 government.

Meanwhile, 64 people being detained were from Istanbul Medeniyet University, 19 of whom were medical faculty professors, Anadolu said. All were suspected users of ByLock, an encrypted messaging app that 바카라사이트 government says was used by G¨¹len¡¯s followers.

About 50,000 people have been arrested and 150,000 state workers including teachers, judges and soldiers, have been suspended in 바카라사이트 crackdown under emergency rule that was imposed soon after 바카라사이트 attempted military takeover. Some 8,300 academics have been sacked, according to 바카라사이트 volunteer-run website, which documents injustices perpetrated during 바카라사이트 Erdo?an crackdown.

On 18 July, Idil Eser, Amnesty International¡¯s Turkey director,?was arrested alongside five o바카라사이트r human rights activists on charges of ¡°abetting a terrorist organisation¡±, Turkey Purge .

In a recent open letter to President Erdo?an, Robert Quinn, executive director of Scholars at Risk, 바카라사이트 New York-based scholar rescue network, described 바카라사이트 numbers of academics sacked in 바카라사이트 past 12 months as ¡°staggering¡±.
