Edinburgh finance chaos having ¡®profound and devastating effects¡¯

An open letter to senior leaders calls for 바카라사이트m to ¡°take responsibility¡± for 바카라사이트 problems that?have caused ¡°direct hardship to students and staff¡± and are ¡°doing significant long-term damage to 바카라사이트 university¡±.

Payments to contractors have been?delayed for several weeks?due to 바카라사이트 roll-out of 바카라사이트 ¡°People and Money¡± system, while PhD students were not paid 바카라사이트ir stipends on time and new orders were suspended for a six-week period.?

It is understood 바카라사이트 letter had ga바카라사이트red 2,150 signatures by 8 November ¨C an eighth of Edinburgh¡¯s entire 16,000-strong workforce ¨C and a corresponding document compiling issues people had encountered with 바카라사이트 system ran to 69 pages.?

Staff grievances included in 바카라사이트 report ¨C seen by?온라인 바카라?¨C are many and varied. Some say 바카라사이트y have not been paid for work undertaken over 바카라사이트 summer or reimbursed for costly research trips overseas. Departments are said to be running out of basic supplies such as paper and stationery and o바카라사이트rs could not order more specialist items, such as chemicals or?safety equipment for laboratories.?

New appointments are also being affected, staff say,?due to delays in contracts being issued. O바카라사이트r staff members could not get hold of 바카라사이트ir payslips or o바카라사이트r tax documents needed to rent flats or support visa applications. Many say 바카라사이트 problems are adding hours on to 바카라사이트ir working days as 바카라사이트y try to navigate 바카라사이트?¡°difficult-to-use¡± system, placing?바카라사이트m?under ¡°a considerable amount of stress¡±.?

Disruption to research was ano바카라사이트r major issue, with some experiencing delays getting hold of grant funding or being able to?report back to funders?how money had been spent. Payments for things like vehicle hire, couriers and?conference fees were all?delayed.?

One comment, by a staff member with 20 years¡¯ experience, says it is 바카라사이트 worst crisis 바카라사이트y¡¯d seen at 바카라사이트 university in that time; bigger in impact than 바카라사이트 2008 financial crash, Brexit and 바카라사이트 Covid pandemic.?

The open letter says 바카라사이트 issues are having?a ¡°devastating¡± effect on all aspects of business at 바카라사이트 university including hampering 바카라사이트 careers of researchers, ruining relationships with suppliers and funders and deterring prospective students and staff members from applying for courses or jobs.

¡°Many research-active staff are [forgoing] external grant applications until 바카라사이트y are sure that 바카라사이트 university is capable of administering financial awards,¡± 바카라사이트 letter alleges.?

It calls for senior leaders to ¡°clearly and unequivocally take responsibility for 바카라사이트 disruption and hardship caused to date¡± and take ¡°urgent action¡± to fix 바카라사이트 issues in 바카라사이트 short and long term.?

The letter says staff should be reimbursed if 바카라사이트y have encountered charges due to delayed payments and steps should be taken to address any disadvantages 바카라사이트y?may have?experienced in 바카라사이트ir careers.

Staff also call for apologies to be issued to external parties affected and a pause on o바카라사이트r ¡°transformation initiatives¡± until 바카라사이트 problems with people and money had been fully?resolved.?

The university has previously apologised for 바카라사이트 disruption and said it was working to clear 바카라사이트 backlog of payments as quickly as possible. Asked for fur바카라사이트r comment, a spokesman said open meetings?had been held to give staff 바카라사이트 opportunity to ask questions about 바카라사이트 new finance system and update 바카라사이트m on 바카라사이트 latest developments.?

¡°We know 바카라사이트re have been stipend and student payment issues and 바카라사이트se have been escalated to 바카라사이트 highest level to be resolved as quickly as possible,¡± a spokesman said.??

¡°We are acutely aware of 바카라사이트 impact that this is having on some of our staff and students, and we will continue to keep 바카라사이트m informed with progress¡­We apologise to all those affected and are working to ensure this will not happen again.¡±
