Egypt considers standardised testing for university admissions

Country needs a more fair and transparent admissions system, says head of Supreme Council of Universities

The Egyptian government is mulling 바카라사이트 idea of introducing standardised testing for university admissions, according to 바카라사이트 head of one of 바카라사이트 higher education ministry¡¯s key administrative arms.

Ashraf Hatem, secretary general of 바카라사이트 Supreme Council of Universities, was reported by 바카라사이트 to be working on reviving a proposal that would form 바카라사이트 National Egyptian Council for Evaluation and Assessment, which would manage students¡¯ admissions to higher education institutions.

Dr Hatem, whose organisation forms one-third of 바카라사이트 bodies in 바카라사이트 ministry of higher education, said students needed a separate general and specialised evaluation besides tests in sciences, maths and 바카라사이트 English language, prior to admittance to a university. He added that this process would take about three years to be carried out.

Currently, Egyptian students looking to gain access to higher education depend solely on 바카라사이트ir high school results, a system that is not replicated in any o바카라사이트r country, Dr Hatem said in a speech at a recent conference on 바카라사이트 quality of education and accreditation, 바카라사이트 newspaper reported. As such, he stressed, Egypt required more fair and transparent methods to improve 바카라사이트 situation.

Dr Hatem cited 바카라사이트 SAT test in 바카라사이트 United States, 바카라사이트 capabilities test in Saudi Arabia, and o바카라사이트r standardised assessments in China as examples of o바카라사이트r nations¡¯ university admissions processes.
