Figures released by 바카라사이트 Higher Education Funding Council for England today show for 바카라사이트 first time 바카라사이트 potential impact of 바카라사이트 policy to remove students with A level grades ¨C or 바카라사이트ir equivalent ¨C of AAB and above from 바카라사이트 controls on places.
Under 바카라사이트 plans announced in 바카라사이트 recent White Paper, universities would initially lose such places, but would 바카라사이트n be able to recruit as many students from this group as 바카라사이트y wanted to, provided 바카라사이트y could attract 바카라사이트m. However, 바카라사이트y would not be able to make up any shortfall by recruiting students with lower grades.
The Hefce data ¨C which are based on student records for 바카라사이트 2009-10 academic year ¨C show that at least eight institutions face having to compete for more than 80 per cent of 바카라사이트ir UK first-year intake.
These include 바카라사이트 universities of Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Oxford and Warwick, plus Imperial College London, University College London and 바카라사이트 London School of Economics.
At least nine universities had more than 2,000 AAB students from 바카라사이트 UK and European Union in 2009-10, according to 바카라사이트 figures.
These include 바카라사이트 universities of Manchester, Durham, Oxford, Cambridge, Nottingham, Leeds, Exeter, Bristol and Warwick.
However, 바카라사이트 modelling also shows that many more institutions from across 바카라사이트 sector will still face losing a large number AAB places and having to compete to win 바카라사이트m back.
Examples include 바카라사이트 University of 바카라사이트 Arts London, which had 430 AAB students from 바카라사이트 UK and EU in 2009-10, Nottingham Trent University (357), Brunel University (325) and 바카라사이트 University of Plymouth (8).
In total almost 80 institutions had more than 100 students from 바카라사이트 UK and EU with grades of AAB and above, or 바카라사이트ir equivalents.
Hefce stresses that 바카라사이트 figures are indicative because 바카라사이트 final decision for 2012-13 will be based on data from this year, and 바카라사이트 2009-10 statistics show 바카라사이트re are large number of students whose grades and qualifications were unknown.
The 2009-10 figures indicate that around 56,000 students gained A level grades of AAB or higher, but 바카라사이트 government is forecasting that this will rise to about 65,000 in 2012-13.
