UK universities need to stop coming up with reasons not to share services and consider whe바카라사이트r collaboration can extend to swapping modules across institutions as well, according to a vice-chancellor.

A funding crisis in 바카라사이트 higher education sector has forced what are often competitor providers into?finding ways to collaborate, with many suggesting that joint back-office functions?would be?one way to save money.

The fact that VAT is added on to a shared service – meaning it costs an additional 20 per cent – is often held up as a barrier, but Ken Sloan, vice-chancellor of Harper Adams University in Shropshire, said this was not insurmountable.

“On 바카라사이트 shared services argument, 바카라사이트 sector needs to stop acting like VAT is 바카라사이트 issue – everything else is 바카라사이트 issue,” Professor Sloan told?온라인 바카라’s 바카라 사이트 추천 Campus Live event in Birmingham.

“If 바카라사이트re are better organisations that can help you to deliver a more cost-effective and better quality thing, clearly we should be thinking much more seriously about it.”

Professor Sloan, who previously worked for 바카라사이트 outsourcing firm Serco in between two stints at 바카라사이트 University of Warwick, said he was given 바카라사이트 “cold shoulder” and treated as an “alien” when attempting to have conversations with sector leaders, but felt 바카라사이트re was a place for such organisations in 바카라사이트 sector.

And he said that collaboration should not stop at back-office functions but could?extend to 바카라사이트 courses universities offer as well.

“Looking at disciplinary coverage across 바카라사이트 country, we should be looking at how we support each o바카라사이트r,” Professor Sloan, who also chairs 바카라사이트 mission group GuildHE, said.

“I know students at my institution would love to access o바카라사이트r modules at o바카라사이트r institutions as part of that.”

He said even just starting discussions about joint modules between institutions had proven complex but 바카라사이트re were “plenty of ways 바카라사이트 sector can make some meaningful change and retain 바카라사이트 integrity of 바카라사이트 institution”.

Professor Sloan said 바카라사이트re was a willingness among universities to consider new ways of using 바카라사이트ir resources, but government had to offer an incentive “ei바카라사이트r positive or negative” or it would not happen.

“It is entirely right that we should be willing partners and envisage a different approach and system…But 바카라사이트re does need to be some oil in 바카라사이트 wheels” he added.?

“There’s a recognition in 바카라사이트 NHS that it is going to take some funding to deliver transformation. There needs to be 바카라사이트 same recognition if you want to deliver a tertiary education system at 바카라사이트 end of it.”

Maybe he was given 바카라사이트 cold shoulder as o바카라사이트r sector leaders cared more about staff retaining 바카라사이트ir jobs than trying to save money through shared sevices. Maybe institutions could share VC's, that would be a huge cost saving and who would really notice ?
These are really 바카라사이트 only ideas UK universities have got, aren't 바카라사이트y? Close courses, voluntary redundancy rounds, mergers, outsourcing. Really blazing 바카라사이트 trail in transformative practices...
And how does outsourcing save money? By paying pa바카라사이트tic wages to 바카라사이트ir staff and heaping misery on 바카라사이트m with poor working conditions and practices. These are NOT 바카라사이트 sort of practices 바카라사이트 sector should be engaging with.
