Employers may back training levy

The CBI this week refused to rule out 바카라사이트 possibility of backing a compulsory training levy on employers after hearing a passionate plea from trade unionist Bill Jordan at its annual conference in Birmingham. The employers' organisation announced that it will be conducting a two-month review of employers' opinions on what Dominic Cadbury, chairman of 바카라사이트 CBI education and training committee, called "a highly controversial subject".

Mr Cadbury said 바카라사이트 issue of a compulsory training levy was now back on 바카라사이트 agenda. He said that 바카라사이트 CBI would be "consulting all members to seek endorsement of 바카라사이트 policy position that we develop". The CBI would "apply 바카라사이트 practicality test and judge 바카라사이트 training levy against what are likely to be 바카라사이트 results and consequences in 바카라사이트 real world". A number of delegates spoke against 바카라사이트 idea.

Bill Jordan, president of 바카라사이트 Amalgamated Electrical and Engineering Union, told employers: "We should not be debating 바카라사이트 need for a training levy, but tailoring one that meets 바카라사이트 needs of industry." He suggested "a slimline system, short on bureaucracy and with a built-in exemption for companies with Investor in People status".
