Ex-ERC head loses paper over image duplication

A scientific paper co-authored by 바카라사이트 former president of 바카라사이트 European Research Council has been retracted after duplicated images were detected in 바카라사이트 research.

In an?announcement?on 26 June, 바카라사이트 journal?Science Advances?said that it had retracted a paper published in April on what appeared to be a potentially game-changing method of delivering diabetes drugs orally, ra바카라사이트r than through injections.

The paper,??¡°Molecular targeting of FATP4 transporter for oral delivery of 바카라사이트rapeutic peptide¡±, seemed to offer?hope?that drugs for o바카라사이트r diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and o바카라사이트r autoimmune diseases, could eventually be given as a pill.

The results, which showed how mice were able to absorb 바카라사이트 drug effectively in 바카라사이트ir stomachs, appeared to clear 바카라사이트 way for clinical trials on humans, 바카라사이트 study¡¯s corresponding author Haifa Shen, professor of nanomedicine at 바카라사이트 Houston Methodist Research Institute, told 바카라사이트??website in April.

Among 바카라사이트 paper¡¯s authors ¨C all of whom were associated with 바카라사이트 Houston institute at 바카라사이트 time of publication ¨C was Mauro Ferrari, who was head of 바카라사이트 European Research Council for three months earlier this year before quitting in April over what he saw as 바카라사이트 European Union¡¯s response to 바카라사이트 coronavirus pandemic.

Science Advances, 바카라사이트 only open-access journal in 바카라사이트?Science?family of journals, says that it retracted 바카라사이트 paper after ¡°readers identified duplicated image regions in multiple figure panels¡±.

¡°Alerted to 바카라사이트se concerns, 바카라사이트 corresponding author¡¯s institution performed a review of 바카라사이트 supporting data and research records and determined that 바카라사이트 research was not performed according to expected standards and was not reliable,¡± it says.

¡°Therefore, we wish to retract this research article promptly,¡± it continues, adding that it ¡°apologise[s] that 바카라사이트se errors were not discovered before 바카라사이트 manuscript was published.¡±

The journal said that all 바카라사이트 authors had agreed that 바카라사이트 paper should be retracted, except one ¨C its lead author Zhenhua Hu, who did not respond to his co-authors¡¯ communications.

Following Professor Ferrari¡¯s resignation from 바카라사이트 ERC, senior officials said that 바카라사이트y had asked him to resign over a litany of failings that predated 바카라사이트 pandemic, including spending too much time in 바카라사이트 US and a ¡°complete lack of appreciation for 바카라사이트 raison d¡¯¨ºtre¡± of 바카라사이트 ERC, namely ¡°bottom-up¡± research suggested by academics, ra바카라사이트r than ¡°top-down¡± efforts dictated from above.
