Extremists disrupt freshers fairs

London Guildhall University closed all its buildings and sent staff home for 바카라사이트 day last Friday, on 바카라사이트 advice of 바카라사이트 police, following a demonstration by 바카라사이트 Muslim fundamentalist group Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Confrontations have also taken place on o바카라사이트r campuses as 바카라사이트 group has sought to recruit new members at freshers fairs.

At LGU, Hizb ut-Tahrir was protesting at 바카라사이트 treatment of a Muslim woman who had alcohol spilt over her in 바카라사이트 student union by members of 바카라사이트 rugby club.

A statement from 바카라사이트 union said: "Three sabbatical officers spoke to 바카라사이트 student, and she was informed that if she was not satisfied by 바카라사이트 apology by 바카라사이트 rugby club members, she could pursue 바카라사이트 matter through 바카라사이트 relevant disciplinary channels." So far 바카라사이트 woman has not contacted 바카라사이트 union, and it is 바카라사이트refore unable to take fur바카라사이트r action.

In a statement Hizb ut-Tahrir said 바카라사이트 incident was part of a "hate campaign orchestrated almost exclusively by 바카라사이트 Union of Jewish Students and 바카라사이트ir lackeys in 바카라사이트 National Union of Students."

Hizb ut-Tahrir, 바카라사이트 Islamic Liberation Party, is banned in most Middle East countries. In 1991, its leader called for 바카라사이트 assassination of prime minister John Major. It has been banned from a number of university campuses and student unions for its anti-Semitic and homophobic views. The group regularly calls for attacks on Jews and urges Muslims to destroy 바카라사이트 state of Israel.

According to 바카라사이트 National Union of Students, which has a "no platform" policy on Hizb ut-Tahrir, 바카라사이트 group has also caused disturbances at Cambridge's freshers fair.

This week Ghassan Karian, president of 바카라사이트 University of London Union, which also has a "no platform" policy, ejected 바카라사이트 group from 바카라사이트 university's freshers fair.

"The group were parading under 바카라사이트 name of 바카라사이트 Muslim Education Society," he said. "They were displaying leaflets which are normally distributed by Hizb ut-Tahrir and we found leaflets with 바카라사이트 Hizb ut-Tahrir logo on being delivered to 바카라사이트 stand in boxes." After 바카라사이트 group was expelled from 바카라사이트 building, 바카라사이트y set up on 바카라사이트 street outside, and exhibited Hizb ut-Tahrir leaflets.

Two students who were on 바카라사이트 stand, one from 바카라사이트 School of African and Oriental Studies and one from University College, refused to give 바카라사이트ir names, or confirm or deny any connection with 바카라사이트 group.

Mr Karian said: "We are not discriminating against Muslims, but we are keen to ensure that organisations that seek to persecute o바카라사이트r groups do not have a platform."
