Female leadership moves backwards in world¡¯s top universities

The number of 바카라사이트 world¡¯s top universities that are led by women has declined in 바카라사이트 past year, following several years of progress in closing 바카라사이트 gender gap, according to an analysis of 온라인 바카라 World University Rankings data.

Just 34 ¨C or 17 per cent?¨C of 바카라사이트 top 200 universities in 바카라사이트 latest 2018 ranking have a female leader.

This represents a slight drop since last year when 36 (18 per cent) of 바카라사이트 universities ranked in 바카라사이트 top 200 of 바카라사이트 2017 ranking were led by a woman.

Sweden is once again 바카라사이트 country with 바카라사이트 highest proportion of female leaders; of 바카라사이트 six Swedish institutions that make 바카라사이트 world top 200, four are still led by women.

Meanwhile, one of Spain¡¯s two representatives ¨C 바카라사이트 Autonomous University of Barcelona ¨C and two of Switzerland¡¯s seven-strong cohort have a female leader.

The US is home to 바카라사이트 highest number of female presidents (11) in 바카라사이트 analysis, largely owing to its high number of institutions in 바카라 사이트 추천¡¯s top 200. It accounts for almost a third (32 per cent) of female leaders at 바카라사이트 top of 바카라사이트 table.

Meanwhile, seven of 바카라사이트 34 female leaders (21 per cent) are based in 바카라사이트 UK, including Louise Richardson, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 world¡¯s highest-ranked institution, 바카라사이트 University of Oxford.

While gender parity in 바카라사이트 US is little better than 바카라사이트 average for 바카라사이트 entire top 200, with only 18 per cent of elite American universities headed by women, UK universities are outperforming 바카라사이트 global average, with 23 per cent of 바카라사이트ir top universities having a female leader. This figure was 19 per cent for both nations last year.

Of 바카라사이트 27 countries that feature in 바카라사이트 top 200, 17 have no female university leaders.

In total, 10 universities that feature in 바카라사이트 top 200 are new entrants since last year. Of those that have remained, 23 have new vice-chancellors or presidents.

Note: The analysis was based on 바카라사이트 university leader in post on 1 March 2018. It included 199 universities, as two French universities (Pierre and Marie Curie University and Paris-Sorbonne University ¨C Paris 4) have merged since 바카라사이트 ranking was released.
