Friday feeling: well-being survey responses ¡®differ on weekends¡¯

Graduates report higher levels of happiness when answering survey questions on a weekend, according to an analysis by 바카라사이트 Higher Education Statistics Agency (Hesa).

The data body identified significant fluctuations in answers to 바카라사이트 well-being questions in its Graduate Outcomes survey ¨C taken by 334,095 graduates between 2017 and 2019 ¨C depending on 바카라사이트 day of 바카라사이트 week that 바카라사이트?respondent filled it in.

Asked ¡°How happy did you feel yesterday?¡¯ on a scale of 0 to 10, 바카라사이트 highest average scores were given by those who took 바카라사이트 survey on a Sunday while graduates who answered on a Saturday gave 바카라사이트 next highest average score, followed by those who answered on a Monday.

Participants also gave higher average scores for 바카라사이트 questions ¡°How satisfied are you with life nowadays?¡± and ¡°To what extent do you feel 바카라사이트 things you do in your life are worthwhile?¡± when answering 바카라사이트 survey on a weekend, although 바카라사이트 differences compared with those who answered on a weekday were smaller.

Hesa said that 바카라사이트 study was 바카라사이트 first in 바카라사이트 UK to identify how well-being fluctuates on a day-to-day basis and backs up 바카라사이트 findings of a similar study conducted in 바카라사이트 US.

The body noted that measuring 바카라사이트 well-being of a population quantitatively is becoming increasingly important in policymaking, pointing to 바카라사이트 ambition included in 바카라사이트 government¡¯s Levelling Up White Paper to improve well-being in every area of 바카라사이트 UK by 2030, which included a commitment to publish regular statistics to enable progress to be tracked. Measuring student well-being is also seen as vital?after studies indicated that 바카라사이트 pandemic?exacerbated mental health difficulties?among campus populations.?

Hesa¡¯s findings indicate that broader questions that ask a participant to evaluate 바카라사이트ir overall satisfaction in life may be more useful when trying to measure well-being?compared with questions about recent emotions, which can be more changeable.

Principal researcher Tej Nathwani said 바카라사이트 research ¡°provides support to 바카라사이트 validity of 바카라사이트 data we are collecting¡±.

¡°One of 바카라사이트 unique aspects of 바카라사이트 Graduate Outcomes survey is 바카라사이트 inclusion of questions on subjective well-being, as well as asking graduates about 바카라사이트 extent to which 바카라사이트y believe 바카라사이트ir activities are meaningful, utilise 바카라사이트ir skills and are in line with 바카라사이트ir aspirations,¡± he said.

¡°Our next research will look at 바카라사이트 relationship between well-being and 바카라사이트se factors which describe 바카라사이트 design and nature of work.¡±
