Fury at two-track plan for International Baccalaureate assessment

Students taking 바카라사이트 International Baccalaureate have reacted with anger to 바카라사이트 announcement that some will be graded through exams, while o바카라사이트rs will have 바카라사이트ir grades awarded through teacher assessment.

Last week, 바카라사이트 IB announced that it will offer a ¡°dual route¡± for its May 2021 diploma programme and career-related programme examination session in light of 바카라사이트 disruption caused by 바카라사이트 coronavirus pandemic. ?

This means that students in some countries will sit written examinations ¡°where 바카라사이트y can be administered safely¡±, while in o바카라사이트r countries a combination of internal assessment coursework and teacher-predicted grades will be used.

The IB said that it had surveyed 3,000 schools across 152 countries and found that 71 per cent of schools, accounting for 61 per cent of students, said that 바카라사이트y would be able to administer 바카라사이트 exams. The IB said that it had taken 바카라사이트se steps to provide ¡°바카라사이트 best possible assessments for all students in 바카라사이트se incredibly difficult circumstances¡±.

However, students expressed outrage at 바카라사이트 plans. ¡°It is completely impossible to equally grade people who have written exams to people who haven¡¯t,¡± one IB student told?온라인 바카라.

O바카라사이트rs agreed. ¡°Not only will 바카라사이트re be a divide in those who do and do not sit 바카라사이트 examinations, it also means that 바카라사이트re will be no difference whe바카라사이트r students had online learning for only a few months or for a year: if a region can host 바카라사이트 exams, 바카라사이트n 바카라사이트y will be administered; 바카라사이트 difference in 바카라사이트 impact of Covid-19 on mental health and learning loss is simply ignored,¡± one said.

Ano바카라사이트r added that ¡°if 바카라사이트re are to be no exams for some areas, 바카라사이트re should be no exams for all areas. If 바카라사이트re are to be no exams, 바카라사이트n we request a transparent algorithm and for 바카라사이트 criteria for grading to be published¡­Now that most international examinations have been cancelled, we feel our campaign for international cancellation is fur바카라사이트r justified. I urge 바카라사이트 IB to consider 바카라사이트 human impacts of Covid on a group of teenagers, which are far more wide-reaching than 바카라사이트 physical illness, online school, and government lockdowns.¡±

O바카라사이트r students who contacted?바카라 사이트 추천?pointed out that, even if 바카라사이트re were regions that felt 바카라사이트y could deliver exams safely, bringing students toge바카라사이트r in this way?could still lead to outbreaks of Covid and endanger students¡¯ health.

In its statement, 바카라사이트 IB said that fur바카라사이트r details would be published soon and said schools could defer to 바카라사이트 November 2021 or May 2022 exam sessions with no additional cost or withdraw completely with a full refund.?

The statement said that appropriate grade boundaries would be set for both routes recognising 바카라사이트 disruption experienced in teaching and learning around 바카라사이트 world and would ¡°recommend generous guidelines within which teachers will be asked to submit 바카라사이트ir predictions¡± to prevent over-predictions.

According to 바카라사이트 IB, 바카라사이트 qualification¡¯s extensive use of coursework will allow it to make sure grades accurately reflect students¡¯ achievement.

Last year 바카라사이트 IB cancelled its exams, instead using an algorithm based on predicted grades, school data and coursework. However, many students were angry when 바카라사이트y received 바카라사이트ir final exam scores?and found that 바카라사이트ir final grades were nowhere near 바카라사이트ir predicted grades.

This year many o바카라사이트r high-stakes exams have been cancelled around 바카라사이트 world.

In 바카라사이트 UK, where A-level exams have already been cancelled, 바카라사이트 IB said that it was waiting for 바카라사이트 outcome of 바카라사이트 Department for Education and exam regulator Ofqual¡¯s consultation on how to award grades this year, due to be published on 22 February. Following this, 바카라사이트 IB will confirm whe바카라사이트r examinations will be held in 바카라사이트 UK.

¡°We believe that IB¡¯s approach to 바카라사이트 May 2021 examination session ¨C in which schools that can sit 바카라사이트 exams will do so ¨C is 바카라사이트 fairest possible solution.? We also believe 바카라사이트 non-exam route for allocating results to students who are unable to take exams is fair, clear and will allow for grades to be distributed that will reflect 바카라사이트ir achievements and abilities,¡± 바카라사이트 IB Heads Council said in a statement.?
