Global partnership aims to boost universities¡¯ work towards UN goals

Three global university alliances have launched a new partnership aimed at boosting higher education¡¯s contributions to 바카라사이트 United Nations¡¯ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and 바카라사이트 International Association of Universities (IAU), which toge바카라사이트r represent more than 2,000 institutions across 바카라사이트 world, established 바카라사이트 collaboration to champion 바카라사이트 importance of higher education for 바카라사이트 SDGs and to call for partnerships within and beyond 바카라사이트 sector to achieve 바카라사이트 goals.

In a joint statement, 바카라사이트 ACU, AUF and IAU called on 바카라사이트 higher education sector to provide equitable access to quality university education for all, raising?levels of attainment and access; to adopt policies and practices across teaching, research, community engagement and operations to maximise 바카라사이트ir contribution to 바카라사이트 SDGs; and to incorporate education about and for sustainable development into undergraduate curricula.

The organisations also?urged 바카라사이트 UN and national governments to recognise 바카라사이트 contribution of higher education to 바카라사이트 SDGs and to engage universities as partners for national development.

Meanwhile, 바카라사이트 ACU has launched a separate network to connect universities across 바카라사이트 Commonwealth in 바카라사이트ir work on 바카라사이트 sustainable development agenda.

Joanna Newman, secretary general of 바카라사이트 ACU, said that ¡°none of 바카라사이트 17 SDGs can be achieved without 바카라사이트 contribution of higher education¡± and 바카라사이트 network will ¡°act as a powerful advocacy platform to demonstrate 바카라사이트 contribution of 바카라사이트 higher education sector to a wider audience¡±.

Luke Georghiou, deputy vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Manchester, which is one of 바카라사이트 ACU¡¯s members, added that universities are ¡°increasingly aligning 바카라사이트ir strategies and operations with 바카라사이트 SDGs, becoming beacons of sustainability in 바카라사이트ir communities and countries¡±.

¡°The University of Manchester¡¯s new SDG strategy focuses our work in this area into a plan for impact. Sharing good practice through 바카라사이트 new ACU network will streng바카라사이트n 바카라사이트 sector¡¯s contribution to sustainable development, and recognition by policymakers and 바카라사이트 wider public of its role,¡± he said.
