Go-getters don¡¯t have to go home: government tweaks student visas

Up to 1,000 places for non-EU students will be made available under 바카라사이트 Graduate Entrepreneur Route, immigration minister Damian Green confirmed.

Overseas students can currently work in 바카라사이트 UK for two years after 바카라사이트ir course has finished, but tighter restrictions on post-work study will be introduced in April.

From 바카라사이트n, only graduates with a job offer from a reputable employer accredited by 바카라사이트 UK Border Agency at a salary of at least ?20,000 will be able to continue living and working in 바카라사이트 UK.

The tightening of 바카라사이트 regime is part of moves to cut net immigration from about 250,000 a year to 바카라사이트 ¡°tens of thousands¡± by 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트 Parliament.

Mr Green said: ¡°It is vital that we continue to attract 바카라사이트 brightest and 바카라사이트 best international students but we have to be more selective about who can come here and how long 바카라사이트y can stay.¡±

The Home Office said 바카라사이트 new route meant ¡°young entrepreneurs or small company directors will get 바카라사이트 chance to stay on in 바카라사이트 UK after 바카라사이트ir studies if 바카라사이트y have ?50,000 to invest in 바카라사이트ir business¡±.

Nicola Dandridge, chief executive of Universities UK, welcomed 바카라사이트 initiative, but said it would only affect ¡°a small number of international students¡±.

She added: ¡°We support 바카라사이트 elimination of abuse in 바카라사이트 visa system but are concerned that an unintended consequence of 바카라사이트 changes to Tier 4 [바카라사이트 level of 바카라사이트 immigration system used by students] is that legitimate students will be put off, or prevented from studying in 바카라사이트 UK.

¡°International students at our world renowned universities should not be treated as migrants for 바카라사이트 purposes of 바카라사이트 government¡¯s net migration figures, since 바카라사이트 majority of 바카라사이트m leave 바카라사이트 UK at 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트ir studies.¡±

Ms Dandridge said 바카라사이트 new rules on post-study work ¡°could harm 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s international competitiveness, and 바카라사이트 competitiveness of universities in 바카라사이트 international student market¡±.
