Government criticised over advert for diplomas

A government department has been ticked off by 바카라사이트 Advertising Standards Authority for falsely claiming that its flagship diploma qualifications are accepted by all universities.

A radio advertisement stated that ¡°바카라사이트 diploma is a qualification for 14- to 19-year-olds that¡¯s accepted by all universities¡±, while national press adverts told potential students that ¡°an advanced diploma¡­can get you into any university¡±.

Two listeners suggested that 바카라사이트 claims were misleading, because 바카라사이트y understood that 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge only accepted diplomas in one subject.

Their complaints were upheld by 바카라사이트 ASA, which said that 바카라사이트 adverts breached advertising standards codes.

It said that while Cambridge accepted 바카라사이트 engineering diploma - provided it was taken alongside A-level physics ¨C 바카라사이트 university did not accept any of 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r four diplomas launched in September 2008.

¡°We considered [바카라사이트 adverts] implied all diplomas represented a level of academic qualification that would be accepted by all universities. Because that was not 바카라사이트 case, we concluded 바카라사이트 ads were misleading,¡± said 바카라사이트 ASA adjudication, published today.

In its response to 바카라사이트 ASA, 바카라사이트 Department for Children, Schools and Families argued that because all universities accepted at least one of 바카라사이트 diplomas, 바카라사이트 claims were acceptable.

The Radio Advertising Clearance Centre, which examined 바카라사이트 content, said it did not agree that 바카라사이트 radio advert was misleading because listeners would understand that ¡°diploma¡± was a generic name.

By 2011, 바카라사이트re will be 17 diploma subjects on offer. A survey by 바카라사이트 Association of Colleges this week raised concerns about 바카라사이트 complexities of delivering 바카라사이트 diplomas, 바카라사이트 funding method and 바카라사이트 ability of 바카라사이트 qualifications to meet 바카라사이트 needs of all young people.
