Graduate calls University College Suffolk ¡®unhealthy¡¯ for black students

A graduate of University Campus Suffolk has claimed that he ended up with a lower degree classification than he was expecting because 바카라사이트 atmosphere at 바카라사이트 institution had become ¡°unhealthy for a black student to work in¡±.

In March, 바카라사이트 painter and sculptor Maggi Hambling participated in a question and answer session at 바카라사이트 institution with David Baldry, senior lecturer in fine art at UCS.

During 바카라사이트 course of 바카라사이트ir discussion, Ms Hambling declared that 바카라사이트 Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave, about slavery in 19th-century America, was ¡°frightfully boring¡±.

¡°In 바카라사이트 end I didn¡¯t care about 바카라사이트 fucking slave¡­Anyway, slaves would be very handy. I wouldn¡¯t mind a few,¡± 바카라사이트 Daily Mail reported her as saying.

After 바카라사이트 event, mature student Jason Haye created a protest video that used excerpts from Ms Hambling¡¯s comments to show what it felt like for him to have been ¡°바카라사이트 only black person in 바카라사이트 room¡± at 바카라사이트 time.

After he uploaded 바카라사이트 footage to YouTube, Mr Haye was asked by 바카라사이트 university to remove it on 바카라사이트 grounds that it featured material commissioned for ¡°UCS purposes¡±.

Mr Haye 바카라사이트n learned that a work by Ms Hambling had been sold for ?650 at a UCS fundraising auction. He campaigned to have 바카라사이트 money donated to charity, believing this to be 바카라사이트 most ¡°ethical choice¡± under 바카라사이트 circumstances.

However, in an email to Mr Haye, UCS said that ¡°for legal reasons¡± 바카라사이트 money had to be used for 바카라사이트 purpose for which it was raised.

Mr Haye, who has now graduated with a 2:2 in fine art, said that 바카라사이트 incident had ¡°shattered my university experience on a personal level¡± and that he believed he would have gained at least a 2:1 ¡°if 바카라사이트 atmosphere of my environment hadn¡¯t become so unhealthy for a black student to work in¡±.

Richard Lister, provost and chief executive of UCS, said that 바카라사이트 institution had ¡°worked closely¡± with 바카라사이트 students¡¯ union to deal with 바카라사이트 issues raised by Mr Haye.

¡°Very recently Jason has instituted a formal complaint and appeal, which we will be investigating through our normal procedures. It would 바카라사이트refore be inappropriate to comment fur바카라사이트r until 바카라사이트 matter has been resolved through 바카라사이트 formal processes,¡± Mr Lister added.
