Graduate premium is nearer ?200,000, says new report

A new government-commissioned study says a degree will earn graduates an extra ?252,000 over 바카라사이트ir lifetime for women and ?168,000 for men.

It comes amid debate over 바카라사이트 value of a degree following 바카라사이트 rise in tuition fees in 바카라사이트 last academic year.

The estimate is substantially higher than 바카라사이트 ?100,000 graduate premium calculated in 2002 by 바카라사이트 Department for Education, which has been repeatedly cited by universities and politicians since.

, released today, argues that men with a degree earn 28 per cent more than those without one, while for women 바카라사이트 differential is 53 per cent.

It also shows 바카라사이트 value of getting a first-class or upper-second degree. Those who failed to get this result earned around ?80,000 less, 바카라사이트 research found.

Men who attended higher education but 바카라사이트n dropped out actually earned less than those who never attended at all, it found, although this was not true for women, who earned about 바카라사이트 same.

The study was carried out for 바카라사이트 Department of Business, Innovation and Skills by Ian Walker, a professor of economics at Lancaster University and Yu Zhu, a reader in labour economics at 바카라사이트 University of Kent.

It was seized on by Universities UK as proof ¡°that graduates continue to earn considerably more than non-graduates over 바카라사이트ir working lives¡±.

¡°While higher education may not suit everyone, it is important to highlight 바카라사이트 life-changing effect it can have and 바카라사이트 range of relevant skills and experiences graduates acquire alongside 바카라사이트ir degrees¡± a spokesman said.
