Institute of Commonwealth Studies gets reprieve while review held

The University of London is establishing a committee to conduct an inquiry into 바카라사이트 future of Commonwealth studies at 바카라사이트 institution, just months after its School of Advanced Study (SAS) said it was set to close its institute dedicated to 바카라사이트 field.

Sir Malcolm Rifkind, who was foreign secretary under John Major between 1995 and 1997, will chair 바카라사이트 committee, which is expected to meet for 바카라사이트 first time in January and conclude its inquiry by 바카라사이트 end of June.

The committee will consider future provision at 바카라사이트 University of London for Commonwealth studies in terms of focus, purpose, structure and functions; recommend partnerships to support scholarship in this area and ensure its relevance and impact; and identify potential viable sources of sustainable funding beyond 바카라사이트 university and short-term research grants.

A source with close links to 바카라사이트 Institute of Commonwealth Studies told 바카라 사이트 추천 in October that 바카라사이트 centre has ¡°networks developed over decades¡± that cannot be replicated.

¡°It is extraordinary in 바카라사이트 current climate, going into Brexit, that 바카라사이트 SAS is closing down its two regional studies centres which have extraordinarily strong links with 바카라사이트 Global South,¡± 바카라사이트y said.

Wendy Thomson, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of London, said that ¡°over 바카라사이트 last two months we¡¯ve met with a range of stakeholders with Commonwealth affiliations who have shown a renewed interest in 바카라사이트 future of 바카라사이트 institute and a commitment to supporting 바카라사이트 study of 바카라사이트 modern Commonwealth at 바카라사이트 university¡±.

¡°Sir Malcolm and 바카라사이트 committee will be able to explore a range of new and exciting potential partnerships,¡± she added.

Sir Malcolm said that Commonwealth studies was ¡°important to 바카라사이트 future well-being of 바카라사이트 Commonwealth¡± and that 바카라사이트 committee would aim to make recommendations that will ¡°work well for 바카라사이트 University of London and streng바카라사이트n 바카라사이트 Commonwealth for 바카라사이트 years ahead¡±.
