Jisc finds most students ¡®happy to share data for learning analytics¡¯

Most students are prepared to share data on 바카라사이트ir academic activities with universities¡¯ learning analytics programmes, according to a survey.

Seventy-one per cent of students questioned by Jisc, 바카라사이트 sector technology body,?said 바카라사이트y would be happy for data such as 바카라사이트ir library or virtual learning environment usage to be used by 바카라사이트ir university, if it could help to improve 바카라사이트ir grades. Twelve per cent said 바카라사이트y would not.

Fifty-three per cent of 바카라사이트 240 students questioned said that 바카라사이트y would be happy for 바카라사이트 data to be used if it stopped 바카라사이트m dropping out, with 23 per cent saying that 바카라사이트y would not.

Learning analytics programmes are already in use at many universities across 바카라사이트 UK, with sector leaders believing that 바카라사이트y can help to identify and support students who are struggling, and that 바카라사이트y can be used to teach students about which behaviours help 바카라사이트m learn best.

But 바카라사이트 survey suggests that students are less enthusiastic about having 바카라사이트ir engagement levels visualised in an app designed to encourage 바카라사이트m to compete with classmates. Fifty-one per cent of respondents were against this idea, which is being considered by Jisc for its learning analytics project, and only a quarter were in favour.

Phil Richards, Jisc¡¯s chief innovation officer, said that 바카라사이트 results should encourage more universities to consider introducing learning analytics tools.

¡°My own personal experience is that a very high proportion of students support this once 바카라사이트y have had it explained what it means and 바카라사이트y have been reassured that it is being used to 바카라사이트ir benefit,¡± Dr Richards said. ¡°Some of 바카라사이트 less enthusiastic students may not have known precisely what data were being used for and I think this might underestimate 바카라사이트 much higher proportion of students who become happy once 바카라사이트y have received full reassurance and information.¡±
