Jo Johnson reappointed as UK universities and science minister

Jo Johnson has been reappointed as 바카라사이트 UK's universities and science minister in Theresa May¡¯s post-election reshuffle.

The Orpington MP that he was ¡°delighted¡± to retain 바카라사이트 post and that he was ¡°looking forward¡± to implementing 바카라사이트 Higher Education and Research Act, and 바카라사이트 teaching excellence framework.

Following 바카라사이트 confirmation that Justine Greening would stay on as education secretary, and that Greg Clark would continue as business secretary, it means that 바카라사이트 ministers working on higher education and science policy remain unchanged in 바카라사이트 wake of last week¡¯s general election.

Before 바카라사이트 poll, it was thought likely that Mr Johnson was set for a move away from 바카라사이트 universities brief, with suggestions that 바카라사이트 battle over 바카라사이트 inclusion of overseas students in 바카라사이트 net migration target may have brought him disfavour from No 10. Ms Greening was also expected to change roles.

However, 바카라사이트 loss of 바카라사이트 Conservatives¡¯ majority appears to have forced Ms May into a much less radical reshuffle than she originally intended.

Mr Johnson, 바카라사이트 former head of 바카라사이트 Number 10 Policy Unit, was first appointed?universities minister by David Cameron in May 2015.

He campaigned for 바카라사이트 UK to remain in 바카라사이트 European Union, and he managed to steer 바카라사이트 Higher Education Act through Parliament shortly before 바카라사이트 election, opening up 바카라사이트 English sector to more private providers and moving it towards what Mr Johnson described as a ¡°classic regulated market¡±.

His immediate priority is likely to be overseeing 바카라사이트 publication of 바카라사이트 results of 바카라사이트 TEF, which will rate English universities on student satisfaction, retention and graduate employment. This had been scheduled for 14 June, but was postponed amid 바카라사이트 uncertainty following 바카라사이트 general election.
