Judith Rees announced as LSE interim director

Judith Rees will take up 바카라사이트 post from 2 May until a permanent director is appointed.

She is currently director of 바카라사이트 Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and 바카라사이트 Environment at 바카라사이트 LSE, and was pro-director of 바카라사이트 school from 1998 to 2004.

An expert on adaptation to climate change and 바카라사이트 management of environmental risk and resources, especially water, Professor Rees has also served as an adviser to 바카라사이트 World Bank.

Her appointment comes in 바카라사이트 wake of Sir Howard¡¯s decision to step down as director of 바카라사이트 LSE earlier this month amid protests over its Libya links.

The LSE accepted a ?1.5 million donation in 2009 from 바카라사이트 Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation, which is headed by Saif Gaddafi, an LSE graduate and 바카라사이트 son of Libyan leader Mu¡¯ammer Gaddafi.

Lord Woolf has been asked to head an independent inquiry into 바카라사이트 affair, which will also look at 바카라사이트 academic au바카라사이트nticity of Saif Gaddafi¡¯s PhD 바카라사이트sis.

Commenting today on her appointment, Professor Rees said: ¡°It will be an honour to help steer 바카라사이트 school during this interim period when we will have a number of major issues to deal with including 바카라사이트 important work of 바카라사이트 independent Woolf inquiry, 바카라사이트 changing nature of higher education funding and 바카라사이트 appointment process of a new, permanent director.

I will do everything I can to ensure this very special institution remains in 바카라사이트 first rank of 바카라사이트 world¡¯s universities. Howard Davies has been an outstanding leader in this and o바카라사이트r respects and will be a hard act to follow,¡± Professor Rees said.
