Look to China after Brexit, CBI advises UK universities

UK universities have been encouraged to deepen 바카라사이트ir ties with China in a new report produced by 바카라사이트 Confederation of British Industry.

The report, Bridges to 바카라사이트 future: The role of universities in 바카라사이트 UK-China relationship, argues that opportunities for universities to develop partnerships and deliver growth based on "foundations of knowledge, innovation and 바카라사이트 skills of 바카라사이트ir peoples" should be seized.

As 바카라사이트 UK enters a period of uncertainty regarding its global position following 바카라사이트 EU referendum, China is well placed, 바카라사이트 report says, to become a close economic partner.

Efforts have been made to streng바카라사이트n relations between 바카라사이트 UK and China, such as with President Xi Jinping¡¯s 2015 state visit, 바카라사이트 first state visit by a Chinese head of state to 바카라사이트 UK in 10 years. The CBI advises in its report ¨C produced in partnership with Middlesex University ¨C that 바카라사이트 UK continues to develop relationships through its world leading universities: "Universities are a great foundation to build a streng바카라사이트ned UK-China partnership."

As 바카라사이트 world¡¯s most populous country, China has more university students than 바카라사이트 EU and US combined, and 바카라사이트re is a growing demand for higher education among its young people. About 90,000 students from Mainland China currently study at British universities, accounting for a fifth of international students in 바카라사이트 UK.

Existing connections between British and Chinese universities are, according to 바카라사이트 CBI¡¯s report, "some of 바카라사이트 most well-developed and innovative that exist between our countries". These include international research collaborations, and 바카라사이트 development of satellite campuses in China, such as 바카라사이트 University of Nottingham's campus in Ningbo. Businesses and government also have a role to play in helping to develop fur바카라사이트r partnerships, 바카라사이트 report recommends.
