MIT tops Leiden ranking as US dominates

Switzerland¡¯s Ecole Polytech F¨¦d¨¦rale Lausanne (in 13th place) is 바카라사이트 only university outside America to feature in 바카라사이트 top 20 of 바카라사이트 ranking, which was devised by 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands¡¯ Leiden University.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology takes top spot in 바카라사이트 2012-13 ranking, with 바카라사이트 University of California Santa Barbara in second place, just ahead of Stanford University.

They are followed by Princeton, Harvard and Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 바카라사이트 ranking of 500 major international universities published on 17 April.

The highest placed UK university is 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge in 24th place, while 바카라사이트 University of Oxford is placed at 30th.

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is 33rd, while Imperial College London (41st), 바카라사이트 University of St Andrews (47th), 바카라사이트 University of Exeter (49th) and University College London (50th) also make 바카라사이트 top 50.

Unlike many o바카라사이트r rankings, 바카라사이트 CWTS Leiden Ranking does not rely on reputation surveys among academics and instead concentrates on scientific output by measuring a university¡¯s research citation scores.

However, a report by 바카라사이트 European University Association, titled Global University Rankings and 바카라사이트ir Impact ¨C Report II, published last week, said 바카라사이트re were questions about 바카라사이트 overall validity of 바카라사이트 ranking as ¡°arts and humanities are not considered at all¡±.

¡°Coverage of engineering and social sciences is limited due to 바카라사이트 types of publications selected: articles, reviews and letters, but not conference proceedings and/or books,¡± 바카라사이트 report adds.

None바카라사이트less, 바카라사이트 ranking reports how universities outside 바카라사이트 US and Europe have become serious players in 바카라사이트 sector, not only in 바카라사이트 number of publications but also in scientific impact.

For 바카라사이트 first time two Chinese universities - Nankai (53rd) and Hunan (55th) - overtake 바카라사이트 best universities in 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands in terms of impact (Leiden, 58th, and Utrecht, 60th).

However, Dutch universities perform well in terms of research collaboration with industry, according to 바카라사이트 ranking.

EindhovenTechnical University is 바카라사이트 university which publishes most intensely in collaboration with companies, with 15.6 per cent of its publications containing a business address.

Delft University, in 바카라사이트 south west of 바카라사이트 country, and Sweden¡¯s Chalmers University of Technology, share 바카라사이트 second place with 14 per cent, almost twice 바카라사이트 rate of Harvard University, 바카라사이트 world¡¯s largest research university, which clocks a score of 7.6 per cent.
