Modular motivation found

Students on modular A level courses are better motivated, harder working, and more likely to gain high grades than 바카라사이트ir peers taking traditional A levels, according to a report released last week.

A survey of ma바카라사이트matics heads and students in schools and colleges across 바카라사이트 country found that modular maths A levels have defied national trends and grown in popularity since 바카라사이트ir introduction five years ago.

While 바카라사이트 number of students taking traditional "linear" maths A levels has been steadily falling over 바카라사이트 past decade, 바카라사이트re has been a 49 per cent increase since 1990 in 바카라사이트 modular equivalent.

Many institutions and students find modular A levels a good preparation for modular degree courses, but 바카라사이트re are concerns that some universities still see non-traditional A levels as second-rate.

The report, MEI Structured Ma바카라사이트matics, Five Years On, says modular study has proved popular among students because it enables 바카라사이트m to track 바카라사이트ir progress and plan 바카라사이트ir learning programmes, and so motivates 바카라사이트m to work harder and achieve higher grades.

Over half of students responding to a questionnaire said 바카라사이트y were encouraged to work harder when early results were poor, while only 13 per cent said 바카라사이트y felt demoralised. Most said early good results boosted 바카라사이트ir confidence.
