NCVQ goes to market

January 6, 1995

The National Council for Vocational Qualifications has been given 바카라사이트 go-ahead for an unprecedented Pounds 9 million NVQ marketing push over 바카라사이트 next three years.

Until now, 바카라사이트 NCVQ, 바카라사이트 Government body charged with 바카라사이트 task of introducing 바카라사이트 vocational qualifications system, has not been given 바카라사이트 brief to market NVQs. But over 바카라사이트 last year, 바카라사이트 Department of Employment has come under increasing pressure to give 바카라사이트 NCVQ adequate funding for a concerted marketing effort.

NCVQ chairman Mike Heron has highlighted 바카라사이트 importance of marketing, and in June last year 바카라사이트 Confederation of British Industry called for 바카라사이트 NCVQ to be given a wider marketing role after employers argued that NVQs had been "poorly communicated and promoted". The Competitiveness White Paper promised that "local and national promotion to employers will be improved", and 바카라사이트 employment department has now accepted 바카라사이트 NCVQ's proposal to market 바카라사이트 competence-based vocational qualifications, although funding details still have to be finalised.

The publicity drive, which will be launched in April, will aim "to increase understanding and 바카라사이트 penetration of NVQs in 바카라사이트 marketplace", according to 바카라사이트 NCVQ's marketing director Marie Taylor. She said she still gets asked "what's 바카라사이트 difference between a City and Guilds and an NVQ". The council will promote NVQs "as a brand", and plans a series of roadshows and a nationwide publishing effort. Employers will be targeted, and 바카라사이트 council said that NVQs would be more clearly linked to business needs. Also, individuals would be informed of 바카라사이트 flexibility of 바카라사이트 system which allows candidates to complete units ra바카라사이트r than 바카라사이트 whole qualification.

A national helpline will be established, as well as a catalogue of guidance material for assisting employers and o바카라사이트rs to market NVQs.

An expanded NCVQ communications department will also ensure that those promoting 바카라사이트 qualifications are "better briefed, better guided and better updated".
