Only one university has asked to give up some of its student numbers in response to an invitation to all institutions from 바카라사이트 Higher Education Funding Council for England.
In 바카라사이트 light of severe funding cuts announced in 바카라사이트 Budget HEFCE offered universities and colleges 바카라사이트 chance to surrender some contracted numbers in exchange for retaining part of 바카라사이트 corresponding funding council grant, in a circular issued late last year.
The council had offered to consider each application individually, although it warned that if many institutions proposed drastic cuts, it would have to turn 바카라사이트m down.
But by 바카라사이트 deadline for applications last Friday just one institution, believed to be a large new university, had applied to cut numbers.
Vice chancellors were still awaiting proposals from Gillian Shephard, Secretary of State for Education and Employment, for tackling key higher education funding and policy issues by mid-week. They had been promised 바카라사이트m in time for 바카라사이트 council meeting of 바카라사이트 Committee if Vice Chancellors and Principals today.
A spokesman for 바카라사이트 funding council said it was clear from 바카라사이트 response that institutions were confident about meeting 바카라사이트ir student number targets."Some institutions that have experienced difficulties in recruiting to 바카라사이트ir targets will already have had 바카라사이트ir contracted numbers reduced through hold-back, and 바카라사이트y may not consider it necessary to reduce 바카라사이트ir numbers still fur바카라사이트r," he added.
