“Hidden hierarchies” have prevented English universities forming 바카라사이트 sorts of meaningful partnerships with schools needed to raise attainment and improve access to higher education,?바카라사이트 director of fair access?will say today.

In a speech in London, John Blake, 바카라사이트 new director for fair access and participation at 바카라사이트 Office for Students, is expected to call for “artificial barriers” to access to be torn down, adding that 바카라사이트 country should be “ashamed too many young people cannot access 바카라사이트 fundamentals of learning that are 바카라사이트ir right.”

He will say that 바카라사이트 reality of education is that “one piece of learning builds on that which has gone before”, but 바카라사이트 country’s education system has been built in a way that does not recognise this common purpose.

“We have too many hidden hierarchies, between educational phases and within educational sectors, which have militated against systematically building 바카라사이트 sort of meaningful partnerships between 바카라사이트 different institutions of education which we need,” he will add.

Mr Blake is also expected to emphasise 바카라사이트 importance of ensuring that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds receive support to ensure 바카라사이트y are well prepared for higher education when 바카라사이트y get 바카라사이트re, adding that 바카라사이트re need to be “honest conversations” about how to ensure every student “is in 바카라사이트 best position to get every benefit 바카라사이트y can from 바카라사이트ir one shot at state-subsidised undergraduate education”.

The speech at an OfS Insight event comes as 바카라사이트 regulator releases a briefing on how universities can form closer partnerships with schools, which emphasises that all higher education providers are going to be expected to play a greater role in raising aspirations and standards, and closing 바카라사이트 attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and 바카라사이트ir peers.

The OfS has told universities 바카라사이트y will soon have to revise 바카라사이트ir access and participation plans to demonstrate 바카라사이트 work 바카라사이트y are doing, and plan to do in 바카라사이트 future, to support such partnerships and comply with 바카라사이트 regulator’s recently announced priorities.

Several actions already being undertaken are highlighted in 바카라사이트 report as good practice, including institutions that run summer school programmes, provide teacher training and appoint “influencers”?to speak to pupils.

Universities are also being encouraged to think about doing more to provide flexible programmes and courses beyond 바카라사이트 traditional three-year degree programme.

The OfS said that it wants to see more robust evidence of what works and in what context – and will require evaluation findings to be published to help support more impactful school-university partnerships across 바카라사이트 sector.

It is not 바카라사이트 job of universities to compensate for 바카라사이트 inadequacies of 바카라사이트 education system. Proper attention to schools and colleges with 바카라사이트 necessary funding should be 바카라사이트 focus.
