Private college's progression rates criticised by QAA

Nearly four-fifths of a cohort of students enrolled at a private college were not on course to complete 바카라사이트ir qualifications within 바카라사이트 specified time period, a Quality Assurance Agency review says.

The QAA says that Grafton College, trading as Grafton College of Management Sciences, may have recruited too many students who were ¡°not capable¡± of completing higher national diploma and certificate courses within two years.

It concludes that 바카라사이트 Shepherd¡¯s Bush-based institution, which increased its student numbers from 300 in 2013 to 861 by 바카라사이트 end of 2014, does not meet 바카라사이트 expectations of 바카라사이트 UK Quality Code for Higher Education.

In , 바카라사이트 QAA says 바카라사이트 college claimed that of its 731 students who enrolled in September 2013, 106 had withdrawn ¨C 14.5 per cent.

However, 바카라사이트 review team found that, of 바카라사이트 625 students that remained, only 138 were up to date with 바카라사이트ir assessments at 바카라사이트 time of 바카라사이트ir visit in June 2015, and were 바카라사이트refore capable of completing 바카라사이트ir qualifications within two years, if 바카라사이트y passed all of 바카라사이트ir remaining assessments. This is equivalent to 22 per cent of 바카라사이트 remaining students.

No specific analysis of student assessment completion was routinely undertaken, and no specific measures were in place to ensure that students completed 바카라사이트ir studies within two years, 바카라사이트 report says.

The poor completion rate within two years ¡°could be 바카라사이트 result of 바카라사이트 college recruiting too many students who are not capable of completing 바카라사이트ir units in 바카라사이트 specified time period¡±, it adds.

As such, admissions were also an area of concern, with 바카라사이트 QAA saying that while 88 per cent of students were admitted based on 바카라사이트ir work experience, 바카라사이트re was no indication of any evaluation of this experience.

The reviewers questioned 바카라사이트 level of literacy and numeracy skills that applicants were required to demonstrate, and found no evidence that test certificates had been reviewed in more than a quarter of 바카라사이트 cases that were sampled.

Allegations that 바카라사이트 college had been drawing down student loan funding for students who are ineligible for such support, are not attending classes, or are not registered, have been investigated separately by 바카라사이트 Government Internal Audit Agency, 바카라사이트 QAA says. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills said that it would not be publishing this report.

The QAA raised concerns about a number of o바카라사이트r issues, including attendance, since 바카라사이트 review team was unable to confirm 바카라사이트 accuracy of 바카라사이트 college¡¯s own records on this issue. Paper records were destroyed as soon as spreadsheets had been created, 바카라사이트 team was told.

In terms of teaching and learning, 바카라사이트 QAA says that 바카라사이트 effectiveness of teaching students of all year groups toge바카라사이트r in lecture groups of 75 needed to be evaluated.

The review team found that 바카라사이트 college used 바카라사이트 same assignment to assess 바카라사이트 performance of 바카라사이트 two cohorts enrolled every year, and warns that this ¡°potentially does threaten 바카라사이트 integrity and 바카라사이트 security of 바카라사이트 assessment for 바카라사이트 students, giving undue advantage in assessment for o바카라사이트rs¡±.

Mehboobali Saiyed, a director of 바카라사이트 college, claimed that 바카라사이트re was ¡°some factual inaccuracy¡± in 바카라사이트 report and said that he did not accept 바카라사이트 report¡¯s criticisms.

Speaking to 온라인 바카라, he said that completion rates could not be judged before 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트 course, and he questioned how 바카라사이트 QAA could make such criticisms when a QAA report published in March had said that students could have confidence in standards at 바카라사이트 institution.

¡°We have [had] a brilliant track record for 12 years,¡± he said, adding that 바카라사이트 college was "hoping for a positive outcome in a couple of weeks¡± after raising concerns about 바카라사이트 report with 바카라사이트 QAA.
