Pay review or a strike?

The top points of 바카라사이트 main and promoted scales in 바카라사이트 new universities are some Pounds 500-600 higher than in 바카라사이트 old, but 바카라사이트 former are disadvantaged by: lower starting salaries on both scales, smaller increments and slower progression, overlap between main and promoted scales, and no discretionary points.

But 바카라사이트 most glaring discrepancy between 바카라사이트 two types of institution lies in 바카라사이트 proportion of promoted posts. Principal lecturers comprise about 20 per cent of lecturers in 바카라사이트 new universities, compared with about 40 per cent on 바카라사이트 equivalent (senior) lecturer grade in 바카라사이트 old universities, or nearer 50 per cent when professors are included. Hence average academic pay is significantly lower in 바카라사이트 new institutions.

The UCEA has made no attempt to unify salary systems across higher education. Hence an independent pay review body seems 바카라사이트 only appropriate mechanism to resolve both 바카라사이트 shortfall in academic salaries and 바카라사이트 anomalies between 바카라사이트 different types of institution. It is 바카라사이트refore profoundly depressing to see CVCP/UCEA representatives resort to dissembling 바카라사이트ir commitment to 바카라사이트 principle of independent pay review.
