Queen Mary academics pass latest ¡®no confidence¡¯ vote in Willetts

The senate of Queen Mary, University of London, has become 바카라사이트 latest academic body to pass a vote of no confidence in universities and science minister David Willetts.

Passed at a meeting on 8 December, 바카라사이트 motion also called on 바카라사이트 government to pause 바카라사이트 implementation of reforms detailed in this summer¡¯s White Paper, which it described as having 바카라사이트 potential to ¡°inflict great and irreversible damage¡± on 바카라사이트 sector.

The vote was proposed by Richard Saull, lecturer in politics and secretary of Queen Mary¡¯s University and College Union branch, who told 바카라사이트 student newspaper, QMessenger, that he wanted to congratulate his colleagues for passing 바카라사이트 motion. ¡°What¡¯s important is that 바카라사이트 academics at Queen Mary have made known 바카라사이트ir discontent with current government policy,¡± he said.

Queen Mary¡¯s senate joins 바카라사이트 academic bodies of 바카라사이트 universities of Oxford, Leeds and Bath as well as Birkbeck, University of London, which have all passed votes condemning 바카라사이트 government¡¯s reforms. A similar vote at 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge resulted in a dead-heat.

The votes have been welcomed by Sally Hunt, general secretary of UCU: ¡°The government¡¯s plans for higher education have been a complete mess from day one¡±, she said.

The Queen Mary vote passed unopposed, with voting for 바카라사이트 motion and five abstentions.
