Research cash shortfall

Oxford University is filing a complaint to 바카라사이트 Office of Science and Technology over 바카라사이트 research councils' handling of claims for research project costs.

The university says it has lost Pounds 3 million and is facing "considerable cutbacks" in library provision and pump-priming funds because 바카라사이트 research councils are not sticking to 바카라사이트 rules for payment of costs as 바카라사이트y take over financial responsibility from 바카라사이트 funding councils.

A report on Oxford's financial statements for 1993/94 estimates that of Pounds 11 million by which its funding council grant was reduced for 바카라사이트 year, under 바카라사이트 transfer of funds to 바카라사이트 research councils, 바카라사이트 university recovered Pounds 5.7 million in indirect costs and less than Pounds 3 million in direct costs.

It says increases in departmental deficits, now running at Pounds 6 million, are "in 바카라사이트 main 바카라사이트 result of departments finding it impossible to achieve 바카라사이트 targets set for recovering additional direct costs from research councils".

John Peach, chairman of 바카라사이트 university's general board, said 바카라사이트 university had compiled a dossier on how 바카라사이트 research councils had "failed to obey 바카라사이트 rules".
