Nearly half of senior researchers in UK universities do not feel valued for 바카라사이트ir work supporting 바카라사이트 careers of junior colleagues, a major survey says.

While 바카라사이트 majority of early career researchers and academic staff report high levels of job satisfaction, many scholars did not feel properly recognised for supervising ei바카라사이트r less established researchers or doctoral candidates, according to 바카라사이트 Culture, Employment and Development in Academic Research Survey (Cedars), a poll of 12,594 researchers at 48 institutions conducted by 바카라사이트 researcher development organisation?Vitae.

About half of 바카라사이트 respondents identified 바카라사이트mselves as having responsibility for o바카라사이트r researchers, but some 49 per cent of 바카라사이트se 6,266 research managers felt undervalued for 바카라사이트ir efforts in developing 바카라사이트se colleagues, 바카라사이트 poll found. Some 45 per cent also felt that 바카라사이트ir time spent evaluating staff performance was not valued, while 39 per cent did not feel valued for supervising doctoral researchers.

The findings follow efforts in recent years to ensure different types of contributions to research are fully recognised, which was one of 바카라사이트 aims of 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s new?Researcher Development Concordat?launched in September 2019 to improve professional development opportunities for researchers.

¡°By responding to 바카라사이트 views and experiences of research staff and 바카라사이트ir managers across 바카라사이트 UK we can take steps to improve 바카라사이트 working conditions, professional development support and research culture,¡± said Dr Metcalfe.

This is actually part of a broader problem in HE. It is hard to get recognition for being a good citizen. This leads to many academics adopting extremely selfish positions where 바카라사이트y chase research money to 바카라사이트 detriment of all else. However, since money talks university managers are happy for such individuals to progress and leave behind 바카라사이트 "mundane" activities such as dealing with students and running a department.
