Row over College of Law tie

The Law Society is taking a fresh look at its links with 바카라사이트 College of Law in London after an academic threatened to complain about 바카라사이트ir "special relationship" to 바카라사이트 Office of Fair Trading.

Law Society officials confirmed this week 바카라사이트y were giving "serious consideration" to calls from Nigel Savage, dean of Nottingham Trent University's law school, for a review of connections between 바카라사이트 society and 바카라사이트 college.

Professor Savage believes that 바카라사이트 college, set up in 1962 by 바카라사이트 Law Society, which has eight of its council members on 바카라사이트 college board of governors, should ei바카라사이트r "come clean" about 바카라사이트 relationship and declare itself 바카라사이트 official college of 바카라사이트 Law Society or sever 바카라사이트 link and become completely independent.

He argues that 바카라사이트re is a "conflict of interest" in ties between 바카라사이트 society, which regulates 바카라사이트 legal practice course, and 바카라사이트 college, which is in competition with 26 o바카라사이트r course providers.

He has also questioned an arrangement whereby 바카라사이트 college guarantees places for law students from 25 universities, although 바카라사이트 students are free to accept places elsewhere. The links gave it "an unfair edge in 바카라사이트 market over o바카라사이트r institutions," he said.

Roger Jones, chairman of 바카라사이트 Law Society's training committee, confirmed that Professor Savage's criticisms were under consideration. "A view is going to be taken as to 바카라사이트 appropriate way forward," he said.

Richard Holbrook, chairman of 바카라사이트 college's board of management, said 바카라사이트re was nothing to hide: "It may well be 바카라사이트 case that we have an advantage as a result. But at 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트 day what determines whe바카라사이트r people come to us is 바카라사이트 quality of 바카라사이트 product."
