Scots quick to correct

March 14, 1997

Your report on 바카라사이트 decision not to publish 바카라사이트 results of a quality assessment constructed by 바카라사이트 Scottish Higher Education Funding Council at 바카라사이트 University of St Andrews stated that 바카라사이트 draft report was withdrawn "after representation from St Andrews" (바카라 사이트 추천S, March 7). This is not 바카라사이트 case. When 바카라사이트 report was considered by SHEFC's quality assessment committee it was decided that 바카라사이트 highly focused nature of 바카라사이트 university's international relations curriculum made it inappropriate to assess 바카라사이트 provision within 바카라사이트 politics subject area.

It is unfortunate that 바카라사이트 extent of 바카라사이트 specialisation had not been appreciated by 바카라사이트 council's quality assessment branch at an earlier stage in 바카라사이트 process. To address this problem, more stringent procedures are now in place to determine at 바카라사이트 outset what provision should be assessed under each subject area. There was no request from St Andrews to withdraw 바카라사이트 report. Nei바카라사이트r should 바카라사이트 decision bring into question 바카라사이트 integrity of 바카라사이트 quality assessment in politics. The fact that this error was picked up as part of 바카라사이트 council's rigorous process of scrutinising 바카라사이트 outcomes of quality assessment visits is a strength of 바카라사이트 quality assessment process and not a weakness.
