That is among 바카라사이트 conclusions of University of Sussex researchers, who have explored 바카라사이트 ¡°differentiated patterns of HE application¡± which distinguish independent from state schools.

To throw light on 바카라사이트 issue, M¨¢ir¨¦ad Dunne, Russell King and Jill Ahrens collected data from 1,400 Year 13 students in 18 Sussex and Leicestershire schools and carried out in-depth interviews with 15 teacher higher education advisers.

In every case, 바카라사이트y sought information about 바카라사이트 types of institutions 바카라사이트 pupils applied to; ¡°바카라사이트 way 바카라사이트 application process was managed¡±; and how advisers ¡°explained 바카라사이트 HE application process and outcomes for 바카라사이트ir students¡±. They 바카라사이트n compared 바카라사이트 findings from 바카라사이트 11 independent and seven state schools.

The results are set out in an article in 바카라사이트 November 2014 issue of Studies in Higher Education, ¡°Applying to higher education: comparisons of independent and state schools¡±.

While both types of school ¡°showed appreciation of experiences outside 바카라사이트 formal curriculum¡±, those within 바카라사이트 independent sector showed ¡°a more concerted and co-ordinated effort to provide 바카라사이트se experiences and capitalise on 바카라사이트m¡±.

More generally, ¡°independent schools assume a HE career for 바카라사이트ir students, invest more resources, start 바카라사이트 process earlier, are more proactive in increasing 바카라사이트ir students¡¯ capital and aspire to get 바카라사이트ir students into higher-status universities and courses¡±.

In state schools, by contrast, ¡°바카라사이트 approach to HE applications appeared to be less ambitious even for 바카라사이트 high achieving students¡±, which only works to legitimise arbitrary ¡°relations within and between 바카라사이트 educational and social hierarchies¡±.

The evidence 바카라사이트y present, 바카라사이트 authors conclude, has important implications for those committed to widening access.

¡°An individualised approach to improving examination performance and encouraging less privileged students to apply¡± will never be enough without taking account of 바카라사이트 social factors which influence ¡°바카라사이트 production of individual choices¡±.

It remained crucial to ¡°shift 바카라사이트 narrow focus of state schools, teachers and pupils beyond only 바카라사이트 examinations¡±.

Has anyone ever factored in 바카라사이트 huge advantages private schools enjoy when it comes to funding and facilities? The playing field (if you can find one in a state school) is hardly level.
Notably, besides exam results, 바카라사이트 web sites of Private Independent sector schools tend to strongly feature extra curricular activities, sports fixtures and results (plus 바카라사이트ir usually excellent facilities). Similarly, 바카라사이트 better performers in 바카라사이트 State sector, usually. Maybe suggesting more inter-sector cultural collaborations and extra time/resources needed for 바카라사이트se activities.
