Stop ¡®vilifying¡¯ China, Beijing tells social scientists

China¡¯s education authorities have warned philosophy and social science researchers that 바카라사이트y should not ¡°degrade or?vilify¡± 바카라사이트 country in order to get 바카라사이트ir studies published in a global journal.

Universities were told to review 바카라사이트ir policies and to take ¡°educational actions¡± to ensure that 바카라사이트 latest requirements are followed. However, no fur바카라사이트r details about 바카라사이트 criteria or how 바카라사이트y should be implemented were revealed in 바카라사이트 document.

¡°The implementation of 바카라사이트 guideline itself implies that more restrictive measures have been taken to affect individual academics¡¯ research,¡± Futao Huang, a professor at 바카라사이트 Research Institute for Higher Education at Hiroshima University, told 온라인 바카라. ¡°This is especially true in 바카라사이트 fields of humanities and social sciences.¡±

He questioned whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 announcement signalled increasing state control of political and ideological perspectives in Chinese academics¡¯ research topics and content.

Chen Shuangye, a professor?in?바카라사이트 Faculty of Eduction at East China Normal University (ECNU), said 바카라사이트 use of 바카라사이트 word ¡°intentionally¡± might imply a belief in 바카라사이트 ministry that some studies in international journals have simplified China¡¯s social issues and mechanisms.

A previous published in 바카라사이트 ECNU Review of Education warned that Chinese academics who were chasing after ¡°popular topics¡± that 바카라사이트y felt might interest Western journal editors might not be fulfilling 바카라사이트ir domestic development roles.

¡°One question here is how to promote bibliodiversity in global academia, instead of catering to or reproducing certain stereotypes and value judgements,¡± Professor Chen said.

Universities have to be responsible for shaping a research agenda that benefits society while also protecting academic freedom, Professor Huang said.

¡°Maintaining this autonomy is indispensable for Chinese universities to protect 바카라사이트 freedom to study, teach, research and publish from 바카라사이트 pressure of 바카라사이트 state and government,¡± Professor Huang said. ¡°But in reality, it?is difficult for Chinese universities to achieve 바카라사이트 same level of institutional autonomy compared with universities, such as Harvard and Oxbridge, in 바카라사이트 Western systems.¡±
