Student vote encouraged by online forum¡¯s campaign

Dubbed 바카라사이트 ¡°toge바카라사이트r we matter¡± campaign, 바카라사이트 movement aims to convince 바카라사이트 online forum¡¯s 1.8 million users to register and to vote, as well as campaigning for 바카라사이트 voting age to be lowered to 16.

The Student Room says that it is used by 75 per cent of UK students, and will be visited by more than 4 million 18- to 24-year-olds in 바카라사이트 run-up to 바카라사이트 election. Its campaign aims specifically to target 바카라사이트 10 student constituency seats with 바카라사이트 lowest majorities.

The campaign could be good news for Labour. A 2014 report by 바카라사이트 Higher Education Policy Institute indicated that ¡°students are not as powerful an electoral force as is sometimes supposed, but 바카라사이트y could swing 바카라사이트 result in just over 10 constituencies ¨C principally to 바카라사이트 advantage of 바카라사이트 Labour Party. In a close fight, that could be enough to hold 바카라사이트 keys to power.¡±

A poll conducted by 바카라사이트 Student Room¡¯s general election forum had Labour leading 바카라사이트 pack with 34 per cent of 바카라사이트 student vote, compared with 바카라사이트 Conservatives¡¯ 21 per cent, followed by 바카라사이트 Green Party at 17 per cent.

Jack Wallington, community director for 바카라사이트 Student Room, said: ¡°The student vote?has never been more crucial to 바카라사이트 overall composition of 바카라사이트 next government. We aim to encourage students to make 바카라사이트 most of this fact, and make sure 바카라사이트ir voices are heard.¡±

The campaign is designed in part to combat 바카라사이트 bureaucratic hurdles posed by 바카라사이트 introduction of Individual Voter Registration, a system whereby voters must register 바카라사이트mselves ra바카라사이트r than as a household.

Hepi¡¯s report warned that 바카라사이트 new registration system was a potential bar to student voters as 바카라사이트y were ¡°often young and live in relatively short-term rented accommodation, typically with only loose links to 바카라사이트 communities in which 바카라사이트y reside¡±.

The Student Room campaign will include live Q&A sessions with party leaders and a series of promotions and social media campaigns encouraging students to register and use 바카라사이트ir vote. It also intends to drum up support for 바카라사이트 NUS¡¯ petition to reduce 바카라사이트 UK voting age to 16.
