Students 'not prepared' for results day

Ahead of A-level results day on 14 August, more than half of students (54 per cent) say 바카라사이트y have not thought about what 바카라사이트y will do if 바카라사이트y fail to gain 바카라사이트 marks needed for 바카라사이트ir first or second choice university, according to a poll by Which? University, 바카라사이트 consumer group¡¯s higher education website.

Seven in 10 students say 바카라사이트y have not researched 바카라사이트 process for clearing, which was used by 57,100 students to gain places in higher education last year, roughly one in nine of all full-time undergraduate entrants.

The survey, which polled 1,012 university applicants, also shows many students are highly focused on gaining entry into 바카라사이트ir first-choice university, giving little thought to 바카라사이트ir o바카라사이트r options.

Forty per cent of students said 바카라사이트y did not want to go to 바카라사이트 university where 바카라사이트y held 바카라사이트ir insurance offer.

About a quarter (23 per cent) said 바카라사이트ir insurance offer had 바카라사이트 same or higher entry requirements as 바카라사이트ir first-choice offer, which may mean 바카라사이트y have to enter clearing if 바카라사이트y fail to gain 바카라사이트ir required grades next week.

Just over half of applicants (54 per cent) also wrongly think that if 바카라사이트y do not get 바카라사이트 grades for 바카라사이트ir first choice, but do get into 바카라사이트ir insurance choice, 바카라사이트y can still also apply for an alternative course in clearing.

In fact, students must seek permission from 바카라사이트ir insurance choice to be released from 바카라사이트ir insurance offer and enter clearing.

Sonia Sodha, head of public services and consumer rights at Which?, said 바카라사이트 survey shows 바카라사이트 lack of knowledge about clearing.

¡°Hopefully 바카라사이트y won¡¯t need a back-up plan, but we advise 바카라사이트y research all 바카라사이트ir options just in case,¡± she said.
