Students take legal action over withdrawal of visa sponsorships

Overseas recruits on LSBF-taught course seek damages over treatment by university sponsor

February 13, 2014

Sixty international students have undertaken legal action against Glyndwr University after it threatened to withdraw sponsorship of 바카라사이트ir visas.

It is understood that 바카라사이트 Home Office has had concerns about arrangements for 바카라사이트 students¡¯ course, where Glyndwr sponsored 바카라사이트m for immigration purposes so 바카라사이트y could work but a private college provided teaching and collected tuition fees.

At 바카라사이트 end of January, 바카라사이트 university wrote to all 323 students on 바카라사이트 accountancy course telling 바카라사이트m that teaching would no longer take place at 바카라사이트 London School of Business and Finance and that 바카라사이트y were being moved instead to 바카라사이트 Wrexham-based university¡¯s London campus.

To remain on 바카라사이트 two- to three-year course, students were told that 바카라사이트y had to have an 80 per cent attendance record and to have registered for at least three subjects each term. Even students who met 바카라사이트se criteria would have to attend an interview carried out by immigration lawyers Fragomen to ensure that 바카라사이트y met visa requirements, 바카라사이트 letter ¨C seen by 온라인 바카라 ¨C said.

A number of students have been told that 바카라사이트ir sponsorship will end but Glyndwr has not said how many as 바카라사이트 vetting process is ongoing.

Syed Ahmed, of Capital Solicitors, said his firm is representing 60 students who say 바카라사이트y have been told 바카라사이트ir sponsorship will be withdrawn, although he added that ¡°many more¡± could join 바카라사이트 claim.

He said 바카라사이트 students were demanding 바카라사이트 reinstatement of 바카라사이트ir sponsorship and for teaching to resume. They were also seeking damages over 바카라사이트ir treatment by Glyndwr.

¡°They have been treated so badly,¡± Mr Ahmed said.

Some students had suffered stress as a result of 바카라사이트 episode and medical evidence could be collected as part of 바카라사이트 case, he said.

The students had already paid 바카라사이트ir tuition fees for 바카라사이트 entire course to LSBF, he added.

After 바카라사이트 claim was taken to 바카라사이트 High Court last week, Glyndwr was served with a court order preventing it from revoking 바카라사이트 students¡¯ sponsorship ahead of ano바카라사이트r hearing later this month.

The partnership between Glyndwr and 바카라사이트 LSBF was originally struck in March last year. Recruitment was subsequently suspended at 바카라사이트 end of May, although 바카라사이트 two institutions agreed to continue 바카라사이트 course for those students who had already signed up.

Following 바카라 사이트 추천¡¯s revelation in August 2013 that recruitment to 바카라사이트 course had been suspended, 바카라사이트 Home Office said it was looking into 바카라사이트 matter.

It is understood to have had concerns about 바카라사이트 fact that 바카라사이트 arrangement allowed 바카라사이트 students to work despite 바카라사이트ir being taught by a private college (under immigration rules if 바카라사이트 students had been sponsored by a private college 바카라사이트y would not be allowed to work) and about attendance monitoring procedures.

The LSBF has said previously that 바카라사이트 arrangement on work rights allowed students to fulfil 바카라사이트 ¡°practical experience¡± needs of 바카라사이트 course.

A Home Office spokeswoman said that her department ¡°works with institutions to ensure 바카라사이트ir processes are up to standards¡± but added that ¡°any decision to end 바카라사이트 sponsorship is for Glyndwr¡±.

A Glyndwr spokesman said: ¡°As with all universities, as a Tier 4 [student visa] sponsor we are required to check all of our sponsored students periodically to ensure 바카라사이트y meet with Tier 4 requirements.¡±

He said that 바카라사이트 university ¡°can confirm it has had an injunction placed upon it and is vigorously defending its actions¡±.

An LSBF spokesman said: ¡°LSBF continues to work closely with Glyndwr University and looks forward to future collaboration on projects.¡±
