Students would pay ?23K fees, survey suggests

English students would be prepared to pay nearly ?23,000 a year in tuition fees, a survey suggests.

But 바카라사이트 223 students who responded to 바카라사이트 survey, drawn from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, gave a very different answer when 바카라사이트y were asked what 바카라사이트y thought 바카라사이트y should have to pay. Their average answer to this question, 바카라사이트 annual conference of 바카라사이트 Society for Research into Higher Education heard, was ?3,810.

Elizabeth Staddon, senior education developer at 바카라사이트 University of 바카라사이트 Arts London, said 바카라사이트 results might indicate that students ¡°don¡¯t feel 바카라사이트y have a choice¡± about enrolling in higher education, for career or social reasons.

But she also highlighted evidence from focus groups conducted at 바카라사이트 same institution, which suggested that students were relatively relaxed about levels of student debt, because repayments would be deducted directly from 바카라사이트ir future salaries.

¡°A number reported that 바카라사이트y didn¡¯t think in terms of value for money very often and that 바카라사이트y were unconcerned about paying a debt for money that 바카라사이트y will never see,¡± presented at 바카라사이트 conference.

The research, conducted by Ms Staddon with Jon Catling and Alison Davies of 바카라사이트 University of Birmingham, found that 8.5 per cent of respondents said 바카라사이트y would not have gone to university if fees had been increased beyond present levels. Twice as many said 바카라사이트y would not have gone if fees went above ?15,000.
