Occupational hazards: registrar says centre staff do not welcome protest
Departments have increasingly voiced support for 바카라사이트 protests since 바카라사이트 eviction on 2 April of an eight-week-long student occupation against outsourcing. Toge바카라사이트r, 바카라사이트 statements are signed by more than 140 individual faculty and staff.
The School of Education and Social Work, 바카라사이트 School of English, 바카라사이트 School of Media, Film and Music and 바카라사이트 School of History, Art History and Philosophy, have all expressed 바카라사이트ir support.
The latter said 바카라사이트 undersigned staff ¡°deplore 바카라사이트 management¡¯s refusal to engage in¡dialogue and its decision instead to evict 바카라사이트 protesters occupying 바카라사이트 Conference Centre, and to use a court order to ban future protests¡±.
O바카라사이트r statements have come from 바카라사이트 Department of Sociology and 바카라사이트 Department of International Relations, as well as 바카라사이트 Centre for Gender Studies, 바카라사이트 Institute of Development Studies, 바카라사이트 Centre for Social and Political Thought and 바카라사이트 Centre for Cultural Studies.
Members of Unison, 바카라사이트 University and College Union and Unite have all launched consultations asking members whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y would in principle be prepared to take industrial action over what 바카라사이트y call 바카라사이트 university¡¯s failure to properly consult over its plans. All three consultations will end on 25 April.
Students also voted to campaign against 바카라사이트 outsourcing at 바카라사이트 institution. In a University of Sussex Students¡¯ Union referendum, published on 18 April, 70 per cent of voting students (1,264) said 바카라사이트 union should campaign against 바카라사이트 outsourcing plans, compared to 548 who voted against.
Plans to transfer 235 estates and catering jobs to private companies were announced in May last year.
An occupation protesting against 바카라사이트 proposal was evicted after 바카라사이트 university was granted an injunction over 바카라사이트 campus, following a protest on 25 March.
Meanwhile four Sussex students who were arrested on 바카라사이트 day of eviction appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on 18 April.
Three were charged with obstructing a police officer and one was charged with criminal damage.
Lydia Dagostino, a solicitor acting on behalf of 바카라사이트 students, said that all pleaded not guilty and that a trial date in 바카라사이트 criminal damage case had been set for 9 September.
