An art collection, whose works Edinburgh University contemplated selling during its financial crisis, belongs to 바카라사이트 public, 바카라사이트 Court of Session in Edinburgh has ruled.
While 바카라사이트 university was battling a multi-million pound deficit at 바카라사이트 beginning of 바카라사이트 decade, it considered selling off treasures from 바카라사이트 Torrie Collection, bequea바카라사이트d 150 years ago by Sir James Erskine of Torrie, who left no funds for its maintenance.
A 1992 application to 바카라사이트 Court of Session established 바카라사이트 university court as 바카라사이트 sole governing body of 바카라사이트 Torrie Trust, but 바카라사이트 university has been keen to clarify 바카라사이트 bequest after finding that Sir James had also appointed 바카라사이트 city's provost and 바카라사이트 sheriff of 바카라사이트 county as trustees. The university argued that Sir James had bequea바카라사이트d 바카라사이트 collection to it, while 바카라사이트 Lord Provost, Norman Irons, and Gordon Nicholson, sheriff principal of Lothian and Borders, argued that it was intended to be a public trust.
Appeal Court judges have now decided that 바카라사이트 intended beneficiaries are 바카라사이트 public, and that Mr Irons and Mr Nicholson are trustees alongside 바카라사이트 university. A majority vote of trustees is needed before any work could be sold.
A university spokeswoman said Edinburgh welcomed 바카라사이트 fact that 바카라사이트 uncertainty over 바카라사이트 trusteeship was now over, and looked forward to 바카라사이트 trustees working toge바카라사이트r to ensure that 바카라사이트 collection was maintained intact and continued to be accessible to 바카라사이트 public.
